“The Story of Park’s Marriage Contract” Shows Lee Se Young In Character As Joseon Confucian Girl

MBC’s new Friday-Saturday drama unveils the first stills of Lee Se Young in The Story of Park’s Marriage Contract.

The Story of Park’s Marriage Contract is adapted from a popular webcomic of the same name into a romance fantasy series revolving around a girl from the Joseon period who
travels to modern times. Park Yeon-owo, (Lee Se Young), a lady from an influential family in the 19th century, suffers a sad fate and gets thrown into a well. She then wakes up in the year 2023 and ends up in a fake marriage with a man who looks like her ex-husband (Bae In Hyuk).

To be directed by Park Sang Hoon (My Secret Terrius), penning the script is Wife Scandal writer, Go Nam-jung.

In the drama, Lee Se Young takes on the role of Park Yeon-woo, a Joseon Confucian girl who crosses 200 years and ends up in South Korea in 2023 after being kidnapped and thrown into a well.

The actress challenges a unique acting transformation as the dignified yet lovely Park Yeon-woo, who braves an unexpected fate.

She becomes entangled in a contract marriage with Kang Tae-ha, portrayed by Bae In Hyuk, a tough-minded man who prioritizes logic over emotions and presents a fateful romance.

Lee Se Young’s Preparations

In the drama, Park Yeon-woo is known to the outside world as the golden only daughter of Judge Lee Jo’s house, Master Park, and the best old maid in Hanyang, but she secretly leads a ‘double life’.

During the Joseon Dynasty when it was difficult for Park Yeon-woo to pursue her dreams as a woman, she was a person with an independent personality who would jump in at any time to do what she wanted to do.

In relation to this, Lee Se-young draws attention by revealing her character’s first look. The mysterious appearance of the “butterfly teacher”, the unofficial ‘sub-character’ of Park Yeon-woo in The Story of Park’s Marriage Contract. She sells clothing and embroidered goods that she has made using her expert craftsmanship.

There is a scene where Park Yeon-woo is in danger of being discovered while working as “butterfly teacher”, her secret life. Park Yeon-woo, wearing a pretty purple hanbok and a butterfly-patterned veil, secretly lowers her gaze and watches the situation closely. Attention is being paid to how Park Yeon-woo will behave in an emergency situation when her identity is revealed, and how her double life will be discovered.

Lee Se Young expresses her excitement and preparations for her latest work.

The decisive factor was the script. When I first read the script. I didn’t notice the passage of time and enjoyed it so much that I participated with anticipation. It wasn’t easy as my role has to go through growth, but the process was fun so I’m looking forward to the broadcast.”

MBC’s new Friday-Saturday drama The Story of Park’s Marriage Contract is scheduled to air for the first time in November.
