“Vigilante” Unveils Poster of Nam Joo Hyuk and His Character’s Dual Charm

Vigilante

Nam Joo Hyuk challenges a dark hero role in Vigilante.

When a victim of a brutal crime sees his mother’s attacker get off lightly, he will dedicate his life to making criminals pay in Vigilante.

The series is headlined by Nam Joo Hyuk (Start-Up, Twenty Five Twenty One) as the vengeful vigilante Kim Ji-yong; Yoo Ji Tae (Oldboy, Money Heist: Korea – Joint Economic Area) as Jo Heon, a ruthless detective committed to stopping the Vigilante at any cost; Lee Joon Hyuk (Stranger, Designated Survivor: 60 Days) as Cho Kang-ok; and Kim So Jin (Through The Darkness, The Spy Gone North, The King) as Choi Miryeo, a broadcaster who exposes the Vigilante’s actions.

Directed by Choi Jeong-yeol, Vigilante is based on the popular webtoon of the same name by CRG and Kim Kyu-sam.

Tired of seeing the legal system fail, and repeat offenders being set free, Kim Ji-yong decides to step up and do something about it.

A star student at the police academy, he is a burgeoning martial arts master, a bookish academic, and has spent over a decade haunted by the image of his mother being beaten and murdered in front of him by a stranger with a bad temper.

When his mother’s attacker is set free, Ji-yong pursues the man and catches him in the middle of another attack. Exacting his revenge on the non-repentant offender, Jiyong is set along a path that will see him target other repeat offenders, and unwittingly draw media and police attention.

Earlier, Disney+ dropped a new teaser video highlighting Ji-yong chasing after remorseless criminals and delivering his own violent form of justice.

A Dark Hero Created by the Society

Subsequently, a new poster featuring Nam Joo Hyuk as Kim Ji-yong draws attention. The contrast shown on his face shows his aspiring model police student persona as well as his rebellious vigilante look.

His left face is stained with blood and wounds with somewhat a cold look in the eyes show the ruthless will and faith of “vigilante” towards criminals who have evaded the law.

On the other hand, the right side of his face staring straight ahead in a neat uniform shows the image of Kim Ji-yong, a model police student who is the opposite of ‘Vigilante’.

This raises curiosity about Nam Joo Hyuk’s acting, which will express a character with two sides.

The text on the poster says: “From now on, I will judge again“, foreshadowing the performance of ‘Vigilante’, who fills in loopholes in the law and judges criminals with his own justice, giving viewers an idea of what the law and true justice are.

Stream the first two episodes of Vigilante from November 8, exclusively on Disney+.
