Disney+’s original series Vigilante released character stills of Yoo Ji Tae!
When a victim of a brutal crime sees his mother’s attacker get off lightly, he will dedicate his life to making criminals pay in Vigilante.
The series is headlined by Nam Joo Hyuk (Start-Up, Twenty Five Twenty One) as the vengeful vigilante Kim Ji-yong; Yoo Ji Tae (Oldboy, Money Heist: Korea – Joint Economic Area) as Jo Heon, a ruthless detective committed to stopping the Vigilante at any cost; Lee Joon Hyuk (Stranger, Designated Survivor: 60 Days) as Cho Kang-ok; and Kim So Jin (Through The Darkness, The Spy Gone North, The King) as Choi Miryeo, a broadcaster who exposes the Vigilante’s actions.
Tired of seeing the legal system fail, and repeat offenders being set free, Kim Ji-yong decides to step up and do something about it.
Jo Heon, played by Yoo Ji Tae, is the head of the metropolitan investigation team that pursues Vigilante, who is shaking up the judicial system. He believes that even if there are contradictions in the law, he ultimately follows the right path, and works with a unique sense of mission to maintain the social system. As society becomes confused by the Vigilante incident, he is appointed as the head of the investigation team and pursues Vigilante in earnest to protect law and order.
In preparation for his character, Yoo Ji Tae gained 20kg of weight to realistically portray Jo Heon, a man with incredible strength who can crush coins with one hand, and created a muscular physique by bulking up with exercise.
Yoo Ji Tae, who revealed the reason for choosing the work, said:
“I had confidence and expectations that a Korean-style hero story could be made, and I thought it was a character that could show a stronger side than the characters I have played so far. To show off my appearance, I gained about 20kg. I bulked up by doing everything from bodyweight exercises to machine exercises. I also tried a side-parting style for my hair, which is something I’ve never done before.”
Vigilante will be released on Disney+ on November 8th and can be seen every Wednesday.
