Again My Life

Again My Life Episode 3 Highlights

Waking up to a bad dream of being defeated by Cho Tae-sub’s fighter again pushed Hee-woo to meet his favorite MMA instructor much earlier. He starts training with him and continues his studies.

He also learns the reason why Kim Kyu-ri did not proceed with law school was because of financial problems. Thinking he needs Gyu-ri for his future, he sets his goals funneled to physical training, law school and earning money.

His preparations are proceeding well and his goal to earn money led him to invest in properties.

There he meets a seasoned real estate investor named Woo Young-soo. What’s curious is how he bought basement apartments.

After being given a clue to look at the map for why he bought basement apartments, Hee-woo meets him again with the right answer.

Pleading to take him under his wing, the old man gives him a mission to evict the tenant of his newly-acquired property in 30 minutes. Hee-woo successfully convinced the tenant and earns a new mentor.

He also asks him for help so he can bid on Kyu-ri’s apartment. Together with the help of the lawyer he previously worked with, he was able to secure her friend’s apartment.

“Your good will can come back to bite at you. It’s good to help, but if it fails the person who received your help will start clawing at you.”

Learning the ropes from Woo Young-soo, Hee-woo has also found ways to extend help to the evicted tenants. Unknown to them, Cho Tae-sub is eyeing the properties acquired by the old man.

At school, Kyu-ri returns right before the midterms. Meanwhile, Hee-woo gets an invitation to join a secret club of law school alumni that traces to Cho Tae-sub.

By joining the elite club, Hee-woo learns of Cho Tae-sub’s plan and tips his mentor to sell all the properties at once. Listening to his mentee, Woo Young-soo successfully sold his properties and trusted Hee-woo in managing his finances.

The wise old man also tells him of how he reminded him of the times when he was so consumed by one thing. Giving him a piece of advice to not lose himself of a crazy goal, Hee-woo politely listens to his thoughts.

Later at school, the university announces a symposium with Cho Tae-sub as the guest speaker. Hee-woo joins Kyu-ri at the event. Aside from seeing the politician since his merciless death, he also sees a familiar face.

The lady in red who gave his new life leash looks dapper in a black suit – and she seems to be working with Cho Tae-sub.

Again My Life Episode 3 Musings

A good amount of information about property investment was presented in this episode of Again My Life. Specifically the process of real estate auction as well as posing concerns of wicked people manipulating the financial industry to pressure property holders.

Through Woo Young-soo’s profound lessons on greed and how kindness needs to be done in moderation, I was surprised and happy at the change of tone of this series.

His words on “seeing the big picture while proceeding with plans” can be applied to anyone nurturing a dream right now, no matter how small or big it is.

Hee-woo’s journey appears to drop relevant lessons while fortifying his driven goal to uphold justice and protect himself and his people along the way. Speaking of people, I can’t help but notice that our hero’s future allies is composed of beautiful and smart women. *wink

Again My Life

Aside from that, the lady in red who gave him his second chance at life is as cryptic as her intentions. Although he was warned by her previously, it looks like there are more mysteries to uncover with the deal she cut with Hee-woo.

If the trajectory of the story will move like this with side stories of significant messages about life, then, we can fully understand now what Lee Joon Gi revealed at the press conference.

Revenge-driven with a “heart” could be an apt description of the series right now. If you’re still not on board, don’t let the episodes pile up.

Follow the justice-serving quest of Lee Joon Gi as Kim Hee-woo in Again My Life every Friday and Saturday on SBS. International fans can watch it on Viu.
