Big Bet Season 2 Episode 7 Highlights
“Never touch family. Ever.”
Daniel repeats to Moo-sik how much he trusts him as he knows how to read people, coming from dirt. Aware of why Moo-sik backs out of his offers, Daniel reminds him not to mess with their kind.
Sang-gu sends footage inside Young-hee’s restaurant, and Seung-hun uses this in his report pointing out Jose, a tax official, carrying out the murder order. Though probable, Seung-hun’s superiors suggest getting a confession for a more solid case.
Sure of his suspicions, Moo-sik tells John about the perpetrators of Mr. Min’s murder. Having said that Jose and Raul are involved, John warns and silences Moo-sik since they’re talking about Daniel’s cousin.
“No matter how close we might have been, I’m still a businessman.”
Losing all his money in gambling, Mr. Jeong begs Moo-sik to lend him some money. However, Moo-sik asks him to write an IOU and stop gambling already.
Young-hee loses sleep and becomes paranoid about her safety, so Jose checks out the car parked outside her house. John later searches her house, but learns that she’s already fled.
Seung-hun also hears about this, and warns Moo-sik while hinting at his collusion with Sang-gu. Pissed with Seung-hun, Sang-gu attacks him and threatens him with a gun. However, Seung-hun reasons out his limitations as an official also.
“How could you steal from your own client?”
Waiting for him in the car, armed men get ahold of Jose. In a phone call with Moo-sik, he admits that Mayor Raul was jealous of him and had his bodyguard responsible for Mr. Min’s death.
Taking the matter into his hands, Moo-sik takes out Raul in a warehouse. Provoking Moo-sik, Raul gets burned alive after speaking about Moo-sik murdering his own agent and stealing his client’s money.
Meanwhile, Sang-gu opens up to Jung-pal about taking down Moo-sik, but Jung-pal scoffs at him. Daniel begins to look for Raul and Jose, so John contacts Moo-sik, who denies his knowledge about them and claims to be away for business.
While Moo-sik is in Korea, Sang-gu searches through his computer and hears a loud sound coming from the basement. Coming down, he sees Jung-pal forcefully breaking a storeroom.
Big Bet Season 2 Episode 7 Musings
Already near its end, this episode adds more uncertainty to its final direction on whether Moo-sik will give up his status or still triumph despite all the recent events and killings. Like how Jung-pal reacted to Sang-gu, Moo-sik is invincible.
Commendable in this episode is Son Suk Ku’s versatile acting. From being jolly with Mark in his comeback to the Philippines, he is able to express Seung-hun’s emotions while being slammed by Sang-gu on the floor.
On point with the conversation of Seung-hun’s colleagues, there’s no such thing as a scary place or country to live in. People who disregard the law and bow down to money are everywhere, so regardless of the country, there will always be people who commit despicable crimes.
Moo-sik loses his ground when he chooses to disobey Daniel’s word on not touching family. As much as many he has helped, Moo-sik soils his status by killing people of his own more than once.
While it appears that Jung-pal and Sang-gu no longer recognize Moo-sik as the greatest, we shall look forward to their decision at the finale. Moreover, Seung-hun’s last chance to catch Moo-sik on his own can be anticipated.
