With Bo-geol steering the live show of Heyday Again, he declares fair and square competition.
Mo-rae is forced to sing live while Ran-ju agrees to reveal that someone has been singing for her. She relays a story of how she wants Mok-ha’s voice to be heard.
Before that, Ran-ju hesitated and also voiced out how she was afraid that Mok-ha would become another Mo-rae.
Reassuring Ran-ju, Mok-ha tells the story of how she has a seagull friend on the island and no matter how hungry she is after a storm, she never eats her friend’s egg. Mok-ha vows that she will not betray her.
Meanwhile, back at their house, Woo-hak learns how their family assumes a missing family’s identity to hide from their father. It is also finally revealed that Bo-geol is Ki-ho.
Never forgetting Mok-ha, he continued to look for her and even started volunteering to clean various islands in the hopes of finding her.
“This is just the beginning. Brace yourself. Don’t betray me by giving up.”
The competition begins with Mok-ha taking the stage followed by Mo-rae. In a slim margin, the winner is announced and Mok-ha appears on stage to own that moment.
Going to Ran-ju for an embrace, the latter conveys it is just the beginning and they will embark on more promising adventures.
Mok-ha’s performance impresses the viewers but attracts Ki-ho’s father. When she sees her waiting outside the broadcasting station, she summons her strength to approach him.
They go to a restaurant and while Mok-ha tries to protect the family who kindly took her in, Ki-ho’s father has seen through her already.
Afraid that Kang family will be traced by Ki-ho’s father, she aimlessly goes somewhere. But her overnight popularity helped Kang brothers to trace wherever she was.
“It’s me Ki-ho. Thank you for being alive.”
Feeling hungry, Mok-ha goes to a small restaurant where the owner recognizes her. Pouring out the emotions she’s been holding, she confessed to how she really ate her friend seagull’s eggs on the island.
Just then, Bo-geol sits beside her. Mok-ha who already has an inkling of who he really is tries to distance herself.
Knowing her predicament, Bo-geol reasons that she can still pursue her dream and not worry about their family.
Officially introducing himself as Ki-ho, they share an embrace, consoling each other with a silent promise they have each other’s back.
“Relationship does not change depending on the circumstances. It is the person who changes.”
Mok-ha knows the disappointment she caused Ran-ju who went to stay with her mother at the nursing home.
The next day, she looks for her idol and mentor to no avail. She also declined Seo-jun’s debut offer as she wanted to finish selling first Ran-ju’s album.
When Ran-ju’s mom receives a call from Mok-ha, she travels to Kang family’s abode. Ran-ju goes back to check on her mom. Apologizing for giving up on her dream easily, Mok-ha makes a promise that she will never run away again. However, Ran-ju has made up her mind not to proceed with their initial plan to get a 50% share of RJ Entertainment.
At that same moment, Bo-geol who has been diverting his father’s attention sets forth to meet him just when he also learns where his estranged family lives.
Castaway Diva Episodes 7 and 8 Musings
Packed with another set of career and life lessons, the 4th week of Castaway Diva seals all preliminary information.
Preparing to wrap up the key conflict involving Ki-ho’s father as well as claiming a happy ending to Mok-ha’s singer dreams, the series has also presented the side problems to be tied up along the way.
Ran-ju’s reaction to how Mok-ha wavered easily teaches a realistic lesson of how choosing to give up is seemingly an easy decision for most people to make.
Realistically speaking, it is also one that could happen a few times.
Conveying an essential message about nurturing any kind of relationship, Mok-ha also asserted how change can never be blamed on the circumstances but on the person who changed.
Featured in Castaway Diva is domestic abuse that has not yet been explored in a big impactful way in K-Drama landscape. Mok-ha and Bo-geol who both suffered in this situation left heartbreaking realities of the scars and emotional pains, victims of domestic violence suffered.
Bo-geol facing his father to protect Mok-ha and his family is going to be a tough fight, especially because of the kind of sick thinking his father has. Hopefully, he never considers patricide since Ki-ho’s father’s involvement in his old classmate’s death could be a way for him to pay for all his sins.
