Imitation

Sharing a night together trapped in a hotel room has sure made a difference between Maha and Ryeok in episode 5 of Imitation.

We’re definitely feeling the romance ahead for the on-screen love pairing of  Lee Jun Young and Jung Ji So. Because we also want the best possible genuine romance for our supporting leads, it looks like the series will also serve two more.

Imitation Episode 5 Key Moments

With SHAX’s fangirls camping outside Ryeok’s hotel room, Maha is unable to return to her room. Barely getting proper sleep, Ryeok sneaks Maha out by borrowing Manager Dae-gwon’s clothes so Maha can wear them.

Ryeok finds his attention gravitates to Maha as he secretly helps her out in a sticky situation after being late at the call time back to Seoul. He even held her head while she aimlessly sleeps.

Back at the dorm, Ryeok promises Dae-gwon to not worry about him and Maha. Meanwhile, Hyunji and Ri-a welcome Maha back home and teases her on the kiss scene which made SHAX’s fans not happy. They also sense something suspicious to Maha defending Ryeok.

Ji-hak rounds up the girls for their schedules as Hyunji gets a photoshoot with Yu Jin. Meanwhile, Ri-a is also invited to collaborate with SHAX’s Hyun and Ammonites.

“I thought it was a spam message. How did you get my number?”

While Tea Party is slowly getting recognized as rookie idols, Sparkling also gets their first pay after three years of hard work. Yu Jin chooses to celebrate it with Maha and the girls.

Getting hit by can’t-get-Maha-off-my-head syndrome, Ryeok contemplates who can help with his situation. After getting advice from Do-jin to call her, he rummaged to check his old phone number and finds Maha’s old number.

He sends a message, but Maha thinking it was a scam ignored it. Realizing he has to be clearer with his message, he sends another one asking Maha if she wants to retrieve the SHAX-made gift pack.

Finally hearing Maha’s voice over the phone, Ryeok is all pumped to bring the message, but she requests for it to be delivered.

“By any chance, did you open that gift pack?”

Annoyed that Maha thinks he opens other people’s stuff, he asks for her address for the delivery. Letting off his steam by dancing, Ryeok goes back to thinking about Maha. When the gift pack accidentally gets spilled, Ryeok finds a small notebook which made him rush to where Maha is.

Imitation Episode 5 Musings

What Ryeok saw in Maha’s notebook is our pending question for next week’s episode. We’re going in a romantic direction, hopefully, for all the pairs the series intends to capture.

Ryeok and Maha’s backstory traces to when she aspired to join Ryeok’s dance group. However, he was scouted by Ji-hak and later joined SHAX.

Hyun-ji, Yu-jin and Maha are in a one-sided-love sphere, but the latter is not aware of it. Expectedly, the second half of the series would feature bigger conflicts. Most likely, something that would put Maha in a bind because of Ryeok.

Obviously, there’s a lot from the original work that can’t be translated to the small screen. So, it would be nice if the drama would lean more on fan service from now on.

In the previous episodes, we had gained inside knowledge about how Korean entertainment works. This week, the stalker fan culture was highlighted. Additionally, we also had a glimpse of how idols had to wait and work hard for years before being able to finally earn money.

Will Ryeok able to confess what he feels for Maha? Will they go for a secret relationship?

Don’t miss out on the endearing youth and romance story featuring imaginary K-Pop idols, SHAX, Sparkling and Tea Party in Imitation!
