Love Is For Suckers Episodes 9 and 10 Highlights
The rumor about Jae-hoon probably causing death due to medical malpractice hit the production team of Kingdom of Love Season 2. Yeo-reum assures that it is only a rumor and that her friend has a personal reason for leaving the fellowship program.
“Here’s what I am thinking right now. Who I am to deserve what this person is giving me? I think I received a confession that is too good for me.”
With the ratings going up in frames showing Jae-hoon and Ji-yeon, PD Chae-ri of course capitalizes on the main love line of the show. Tasked for the outdoor shoot of the two running together, Yeo-reum watches Ji-yeon genuinely blabbing about the comments she received for having a one-sided adoration.
Thus, she kept running without regard for her appearance since she wants to show her true self. She also confessed how she initially wanted to look good, but it since it did not work with him, she’ll take a different approach.
Responding to that, Jae-hoon tells her that he does not deserve a sincere confession from her. She adorably asks if he’s drawing a line again. Surprisingly, he replies he intends to return the respect for that confession by wanting to know her more. He also promises to treat her sincerely.
After the shoot, Yeo-reum opens up the rumor online. Giving her a cold remark if she really thinks he’s too easy for that incident to be used in the show, he firmly said no.
“You are the producer. I’m the cast member. I used to like you but you didn’t have feelings for me.” “
Feeling down, Yeo-reum calls Hye-jin who easily agrees to keep her company. But then Dae-sik calls to tell her how they’ve been trying to conceive through IVF so he requests to take care of his wife.
Yeo-reum decides to make an alibi to cancel the meeting to drink. While heading back to the station, she bumps into Jae-hoon who can sense her dejected mood. Pouring out her emotions about her career not going well; being a burden to her friend and bringing pain to people she loves – her best friend listens intently.
He asks how she feels about him and with tears welling in her eyes, she confessed that he’s the most difficult one. But it turns out that she was only imagining Jae-hoon by her side.
Jae-hoon is in fact with Ji-yeon on their way to the filming location. She bravely asks him if what he said earlier was to cushion her initial image in the show. But Jae-hoon reassures her that he means what he said.
“That boy was destined to live. I only lend my hand as a doctor.”
Unfortunately, the viral post about Jae-hoon went into a full-blown news article. While cooling down at his place, Yeo-reum and Sang-woo meet a young man who revealed knowing about why Jae-hoon left his career as a surgeon.
It turns out that on the day he was supposed to rescue Yeo-reum who got left behind by her then-ex-groom; an accident happened so he asked Dae-sik and Hye-jin to help. There were two patients admitted with severe situations with one available operating room. Jae-hoon opted for the young man as he has a slim chance of survival while the older man is likely to survive.
Belatedly, Jae-hoon learns that the man he did not operate on is his father who can’t be identified because of the burns on his face. Because of that, he leaves his job.
“How come you don’t tell me anything at all? You were always by my side whenever I need it. How come you never give me a chance?”
Going off-grid, Yeo-reum tells Chae-ri that Jae-hoon is probably at the place where he brought her after her wedding fiasco. Spotting the lonely back of her best friend sitting by the beach, Yeo-reum approached him.
She softly whines about why Jae-hoon never gave her a chance to be with him at his lowest points. Apparently, Yeo-reum was not aware of his father’s incident. All she can assess back then was he was having a hard time. It also turns out that it is another of Yeo-reum’s illusion confessions.
For the show, they instruct Ji-yeon to proceed for a comforting scene between them. She also tells him that someone wants to meet him. Back at the inn’s yard, Myung-hun, the young man he operated to live stands in front of him. He apologizes for what happened to him and his father. He also presents a certificate of admission to medical school and cries when Jae-hoon embraces him.
Fixing the problem efficiently complements the high rating achieved by the show. Munching on chicken, Yeo-reum advises Sang-woo to find the right time to make amends with PD Chae-ri.
She also calls Hye-jin for a sauna bonding time. There she voices out that she also wants to be Hye-jin’s worry and problem absorber like how she relies on her. Finally sharing her woes about trying to get pregnant, Yeo-reum assures Hye-jin that she will have a happy baby.
“Gu Yeo-reum, stay there!”
A haunted house date adventure date is prepared for the cast members of the show. All save Jae-hoon and Ji-yeon couple get different partners. As expected, the spooky date generates kinship for the couples.
When the filming wrapped up, Yeo-reum volunteers to get the cameras installed inside the haunted school. All the while, she also throws awkward glances to Jae-hoon and Ji-yeon.
Unfortunately, the rain downpour trapped Yeo-reum and is in a dilemma about how she can cross the flooded path. Just then, Jae-hoon made his presence known and lets himself get drenched with water to reach Yeo-reum. Getting the camera bag, he carries her princess-style so she won’t step on the flood.
Love Is For Suckers Episodes 9 and 10 Musings
Freeing himself of the emotional pain and guilt that has long been haunting him hopefully leads to Jae-hoon also going back to his initial profession. The revelation that even his closest friends did not know the details of his father’s accident makes him deserve heightened sympathy for the pain he has to go through. Consequently, it also drives us to root for him most in the series.
A couple of imaginary conversations that Yeo-reum yearned to have with Jae-hoon suggest the inner turmoil she’s having in not being able to be true to her emotions. Let’s hope, the third time is a charm and it won’t be chimeric anymore.
Another point of delight in week 5 of Love is for Suckers is the pragmatic workplace interaction of the production team of Kingdom of Love Season 2. PD Kang Chae-ri is probably one of the best-supporting characters this year in K-Dramaland.
Her efficient way of giving a distinct flavor to her character makes us inspired to not take life seriously and be happy about it. While we can’t give her the wish to have a night of stupor with “tasty Jae-hoon” – there’s something worth blossoming between her and Sang-woo that hopefully develops professionally.
Jae-hoon’s decision to respect Ji-yeon’s unrequited admiration inevitably leads to heartbreak especially since we can’t find fault in Ji-yeon’s love pursuit since she opened up about it with Yeo-reum.
Whether it is instinctive for Jae-hoon to know when Yeo-reum is in a problem and needs help; this won’t sit well with Ji-yeon’s position. You see, a woman blindly in love construes situations differently. If Jae-hoon’s words mean he’s going to get serious with Ji-yeon, everyone should prepare for sweet chaos.
Two-way friendship was also impressively highlighted in this week’s episodes. Something the people in their 30s and 40s can relate to. It sets the importance of assessing how much emotional baggage you can unload for your friend to help you with. At the same time, a reminder not to be so focused on our own problems and be there for our friends’ predicaments as well.
