Monthly Magazine Home Episode 3 Key Moments

“Until I became a homeowner, Today’s me will never be indebted to tomorrow’s me.”

Feeling motivated, Young-Won makes a “project 10,000 KRW” per day. She saves up to 10,000 every day and made a calendar to track her savings. Meanwhile, her co-workers learned about the ‘armchair incident’ and she told them that CEO Ja-Seung paid for the compensation. Ever since they heard the news, Chief Editor Go and Editor Sang-Soon forced Young-won to buy the whole team coffee and treat them with food.

Young-won is on the edge of whether she would treat her team or save money. Ja-sung comes to her rescue upon knowing her situation. He treats the team with coffee and does everything to forced Chief Go and Editor Sang-Soon to let her go. In the end, they give up the idea of making Young-won spend for them.

Editor Eui-Ju had a hunch that maybe he likes her that’s why he does things he never did for his employees. She denies this idea and says that maybe he is just doing that because he wants his employees to have a productive environment and that’s it.

Monthly Magazine Home Recap

“It’s admirable that you have a dream and that you’re brave enough to follow it.”

Young-won and Shin Gyeom continue being saving buddies, although it is revealed that he comes from a wealthy family. He just likes being with her and supporting her in saving for her own house. He tells her that he plans to study art photography more and quits his job as a photographer.

She supports her to that dream and then he realizes that he likes her for being with him through everything even though she doesn’t know everything about him.

He also tells Ja-sung about his plan to study fine arts. Ja-Sung doesn’t approve of that idea. He responds that he should stay being a commercial photographer instead of dreaming to be an art photographer. But Gyeom is keen to work on it because someone is encouraging him.

“I think what home is, it measures my assets… Your home is your status that you can’t hide.”

Previously, we learned about Editor Sang-soon’s story. In this episode, we get a glimpse of Chief Editor Go’s life. We learn that he lives in an apartment where he wants to have reconstruction, he waited for a long time but it didn’t happen.

He develops the habit of tiptoeing because of his wife who doesn’t want to know he’s home. His wife wants to move to Gangnam but he refuses since he waits for the reconstruction. He is sensitive when his co-workers talk about it. When Young-won found out about it, she realized that whether we own or rent a house, people always had a problem with their house.

Monthly Magazine Home Episode 3 Musings

It’s witty when they use the Parasite reference for this episode. Especially when they feature a house that looks like the infamous house in Parasite. It’s great that they create a backstory about Young-won’s past relationship then linked it into the parasite reference.

This reference is not only shown in that certain scene but the whole episode. For example, when Chief Go and Editor Sang-Soon are like ‘parasites’ who wanted to get her money to buy them treats just because she saved five million in that Armchair incident.

We can also tell that Ja-Sung is slowly liking Young-won. He can see her perseverance in owning a house. He wants to support her. But we can also foresee a looming love triangle on the horizon for Ja-Sung, Young-Won, and Shin Gyeom. It’s a bit predictable but it’s the fast pacing of the story that made it less annoying.

This drama keeps getting better as we keep watching it. They offer viewers valuable lessons like saving for our necessities and the future. It’s a good drama especially for those young adults who are still planning for their lives. For the next episode, we hope for more improvement in our two protagonists’ romantic relationship and we are rooting for Young-won to claim her house soon.
