The 9th episode of Once Upon A Small Town reminds us that love most of the time is a feeling of excitement and not comfortability.
As Ji-yul is being won back by his ex-girlfriend Min; Ja-young goes through a predicament if she can also assert the connection she feels toward Ji-yul.

Once Upon A Small Town Episode 9 Highlights
Finding himself explaining who Min is; Sang-hyun made sure what he told Ji-yul before about Ja-young is still in place. The latter opts to break the awkwardness between the two boys.
The next day, Min helps Ja-young with her makeup surprising the ajussis at the station. Sang-hyun snaps a shot of her pretty face and shares it with the community GC.
Later, when Seon-dong meets Min for the first time, she realized the strange wall she can’t seem to break between her and Ji-yul is because of Ja-young. Seon-dong shares the special gaze of Ji-yul with Ja-young.
“She’s in the past no matter how good it was.”
Despite knowing her situation, Min persistently proceeds with her goal. When they were asked to help out the ajummas store peach wine, she advertently goes territorial. Thankfully, Ji-yul does not want Ja-young to be misunderstood so when he had a chance, he asserts that Min is not any more special to him.
He also sends the faint message that something is brewing between them that is far different from the comfortability she shares with Sang-hyun.
Unfortunately, his words which seemed to have seeped into Ja-young’s confused heart face an even more perplexing state to Ja-young.
Patiently waiting for his ex-girlfriend to give up, Min seizes a chance to kiss Ji-yul which was witnessed by Ja-young.
Once Upon A Small Town Episode 9 Musings
Down to the final week, Once Upon A Small Town has kept its core charm of sweet and pragmatic romance. How we wish Ja-young can get inspired by how brave Min is in confronting her emotions. At least we know she is getting there. We can understand her reservations spring from her selfless nature. Something that Ji-yul has been trying to fix.
We know that Ji-yul is at fault for not extending his explanation about who Min is in his life. But that’s part of how the story will eventually reach its gratifying point.
Inevitably, there will be hearts bound to be broken soon.
