Once Upon A Small Town Episode 8 Highlights

In the process of helping Seon-dong with his puppy love problem, Ji-yul and Ja-young also reconcile. He apologizes for the belated realization, and she accepts it with warm understanding.

“Thanks to you I get to enjoy this view. In a place I never expected to be, with someone I never expected to be with.”

Summoned to the neighboring village, Ji-yul listens to the ajumma talk about the recent news of the national singing contest to be held in their neighborhood. When he was requested by the mean ajumma who treats Ja-young as Hui-dong’s charity case to check on her mother’s dog, he straightaway refuses.

But Ja-young urges him to relent and offers to drive him to the place. Unfortunately, one of the tires burst when they drove into a bump. So, they end up having a sudden beach date.

Enjoying each other’s company, everything was perfect until they reach Hui-dong where Ji-yul’s spontaneous female guest also arrived. Declaring she’s there because she misses Ji-yul in front of Ja-young, the latter excused herself for them to be alone.

“Didn’t we break up? Why are you here after a year acting like nothing happened?”

Bringing Choi Min, his ex-girlfriend, to the clinic, Ji-yul listened to her intention of getting back together. Just when he’s processing his situation, he sees his brother at the clinic.

Determined to win him back in a week, Min tells Ji-yul that she will stay in the village for a week. If she fails, she will go back to Seoul and not pester him anymore.

Things get more interesting when Min ends up staying in Ja-young’s spare room. Just then, Sang-hyun arrives to bring some presents for Ja-young from Seoul.

After settling his hyung, Ji-yul still feels bothered. Processing his emotions that went otherwise from usually worrying about Min, he rushes to go to Ja-young.

Walking Nurunji with Sang-hyun, Ja-young stops to give her an answer to his relationship proposal. Suddenly, Nurunji escapes and finds Ji-yul.

Looking straight at Ja-young’s eyes; Ji-yul told her that Min is not his girlfriend and that he does not have one.

Once Upon A Small Town Episode 8 Musings

We sure did not expect that the love triangle we prepared for in Once Upon A Small Town will form another side. Nonetheless, we can look forward to how the center love story would progress moving forward.

Has Ja-young already made up her mind to reciprocate Sang-hyun’s feelings? Or will she go for the flaming emotions she evidently feels toward Ji-yul?

Will Sang-hyun double his efforts to prove his worth to Ja-young? And will Min persistently push her effort regardless if she advertently hurts someone in the process?

A lot of questions arise in this endearing episode that would probably extend into episode 9 since we are up for the final episodes next week.

An energizing quick watch, this series gives an addicting tranquilizing effect. Albeit the predictable plot, you’ll find yourself wanting to see the end of the story.

If you’re not on board yet, you can still catch up!

Once Upon A Small Town airs one episode from Monday to Wednesday. Overseas fans can watch it on Netflix.
