Racket Boys Episode 4 Key Moments

The true meaning of team and friendship

In this episode, the boys face a lot of challenges. The team is facing disbandment due to funding. But there is a piece of good news, they found another member. He’s Hae-kang and the boys’ class president In-sol, portrayed by Kim Min Ki (True Beauty). They found out that he is good at badminton and he decided to join the team.

However, his father disagrees with this idea and offers coach Yoon (Kim Sang Kyung) funding to make his son quit the team. Coach Yoon did all of his best to make In-sol quit, but he is tenacious and passionate to be on the team.

He confronts his father about it and tells him that he wanted to be on the team. His father, however, still pushes the idea. Finally, they welcome him to the team. Despite Hae-kang (Tang Joon Sang) didn’t accept him fully as their new teammate, he knew that he is not a bad guy.

Badminton prodigy Yoon Hae Kang

Hae-Kang’s back story becomes the focal point of this episode.

It unveiled why he stopped playing badminton during his elementary days. Even though he was the MVP and brings honor to their school, he still feels envious of the baseball team. who are more popular with their classmates even if their team is not winning.

His frustration adds up when he found out that his teammates are backstabbing him. And saying mean things to his family especially to his father. These reasons explain why he quits the badminton team and switch to baseball in middle school.

Racket Boys Episode 4 Musings

The story of Racket Boys so far is fast-paced. It gives us the answers to some important things in the plot quickly and precisely. Moreover, the plot flows to an engrossing mood which gives a strong desire to root for this drama more.

It is relatable and heartwarming across varied age groups.  Every time, the audiences watch a story of friendship like how this episode focuses on, it’s given to draw attention. Watching Racket boys is like watching a sports genre anime but with a more realistic approach.

Moreover, the well-planned correlation of some scenes somehow makes sense with the backstory of every episode. It’s easy to point out the foreshadowing since the story is light. The back story Also serves as the summary of the whole episode. Like how Hae-kang lost his passion because of betrayal but now he realizes that a true friend will support you and help you to strengthen yourself up.

While this episode has a lot of impressive things to share, there were also frustrating notes. The irresponsibility of Coach Yoon (Kim Sang Kyung) led to the team being disqualified from the competition. Although the series tells us that the boys are hopeful, even after that disheartening incident, it’s still best to at least give them a concrete hope rather than a passive one.

On contrary, I just wanted to share the best scene in this episode. It’s when the boys saved Hae-in, Hae-kang’s sister. It cemented how the boys deeply cared for her like their true sister. They consider Yoon Family like their own. This scene is relevant and well-imparted because it shows the true intention of the story – that is to convince Hae-kang that they can make a great team and great friendship too.

As the story progress, it’s good to note too that they keep the pleasant atmosphere of this drama since day 1. Without damaging some important things in the plot. Surely, there are some improvements they should meet to make each episode more clean and polished. In the upcoming episode, we should expect some rising conflicts and more backstory. Definitely, this drama keeps getting better and better.
