See You In My 19th Life

See You In My 19th Life Episodes 7 and 8 Highlights

Seo-ha learns about hinted foul play about the accident that killed his first love just as Ji-eum also became aware of it. Providing the comfort Seo-ha needs, she pulls him into her embrace.

“Someone who’s always by your side whether in good times or bad. That’s who I wanted to be throughout my numerous lives.”

Meanwhile, Cho-won and Do-yun almost shared a kiss but the latter was too drunk to complete the deed. The next day, he feigns ignorance remembering what he did when he was drunk.

Seeking her sister’s presence, Ji-eum found herself in a situation with two special people from her previous lives as Ae-gyeong also meets Cho-won.

Finally confronting Ae-gyeong’s part-timer Min-gi, Ji-eum learns that there are other people like her who remember past lives. She also realizes that the woman she encountered at the crosswalk is Seo-ha’s mother who interestingly remembers past lives too.

Playing cupid to Cho-won and Do-yun Ji-eum calls the latter to send her home insisting that it has been what Cho-won was insisting. Alone together, Cho-won almost kissed him but it was like a dejavu of how Do-yun also almost kissed her the last time they were at a bar.

Meanwhile, Ji-eum drives to see Seo-ha who just received a shocking revelation that the accident was planned by someone close to him. Devastated he wanders aimlessly, but Ji-eum is there to comfort him.

“I like you. But first, give me some time.”

Drawn at the moment, Seo-ha gives her a peck on her lips. Surprised but happy, she gives him a proper kiss instead. Communicating how he just returned from hell, he genuinely expressed how Ji-eum’s presence took him to a whole new world.

Happy at their romantic progress, she brings him back to his house and prepares the same food she prepared for him when she was Ju-won.

They come to terms with the mutual special feeling they have for each other, but Seo-ha asks Ji-eum to give him more time.

Confession of feelings also hit Cho-won and Do-yun. Confirming Cho-won’s question if he likes her, Do-yun responds he does but is firm that he won’t date her.

Coaxed to the details of the accident that Seo-ha wants to have closure with because of the people close to his heart, he lets himself be led by the loan sharks keen to get money from him in exchange for information.

“At this point, I have crossed that line so much that I’ll always find you if I lose you.”

Unknown to him, the uncle he trusts is on the side of his stepmother. Ji-eum tags along after following him to where he rushed to go during office hours and they drive to a secluded place.

Staring at Seo-ha’s back walking away from her, fragments from her first life memories resurface which reminds her of what Min-gi said to discover the relationship she made in her first life.

With that, Ji-eum follows Seo-ha when she initially agrees to just wait for him to come back. Unfortunately, Seo-ha finds the lifeless boss of Wonjo Capital. The culprits also escape the scene. But the evidence, fortunately, was safely delivered to Seo-ha. In the evidence though, he learns that Ji-eum’s father is the driver of the hit-and-run truck.

Ji-eum talks with Min-gi privately about the memory that overlapped as she was staring at Seo-ha’s back. He suggests ringing the bell to see more of her first life.

She sees an approaching man whose face was not revealed and Se-ha playing with children. She thinks Seo-ha is linked to her first life but it is also revealed through Min-gi’s memory that he is also acquainted with Ji-eum in her first life.

“Our souls will become one and we will find peace.”

Ji-eum finds the documents linking her 19th-life father to the accident that killed her in her 18th life. She rushes to where he is and confirms it.

Just as Ji-eum confronts Ms. Jang if she’s responsible for the accident, she figures it was Seo-ha’s uncle who sadly did it. Simultaneously, Seo-ha also plays a cassette tape of a recording of his uncle making a deal with Wonjo Capital boss for a truck driver that would cause a collision.

Rushing to Seo-ha’s side, they both are aware of their situation. To appease his grieving heart, Ji-eum goes to the piano in his room and plays the music she composed in her previous life. She then reveals to Seo-ha who he really is.

See You In My 19th Life Episodes 7 and 8 Musings

With four episodes left, the reincarnation layers in the series are getting more all-embracing in See You In My 19th Life.

Congruent to one of the key concepts of transmigration where a being goes through a cycle to reach a liberation point, Ji-eum’s first life hinted to be holding the key to understanding the remembrance of her past lives opens the possible highlight of the narrative.

With vague images of her connections in her first life and how it is being connected to her 19th life; the remaining two weeks would bombard us with more details and surprises.

Anchored by the characters’ committed portrayals, this drama is so far serenely moving. It is also shaping to show the intention to link the tragedy of Ji-eum’s 18th life to her first life and current life.

Quite ambitious with its objective, there is honestly an imbalance of the romance and suspense elements. Like the characters who can’t go all the way to their romantic emotions, viewers are also withholding to support the love stories because we are drawn to decrypt first the mystery of Ji-eum’s rebirths and Seo-ha’s pain.

At this point of the story, thankfully though, viewers are given theories to think about and unexpected variables that may arise.

Will Seo-ha’s father remain a textbook unimaginably bad dad all throughout? Will the series explain the ripple of changes to happen every time Ji-eum reveals her identity, especially now that she also looped Seo-ha in?
