Summer Strike Episode 10 Highlights
“Yeo Reum, what kind of life is this? How come only bad things happen?”
Seeing Grandma’s lifeless body being taken away by the emergency responders, Yeo Reum is in a state of extreme shock. Outside, the police escort Geun Ho to the car handcuffed.
Being the sole witness at the crime scene, Yeo Reum is being questioned by the detectives. When she is making her statement, Geun Ho comes out of the room and the detectives reveal that he confesses to the crime of killing Bom’s grandma.
The parents insist that their son did not kill the old lady. Unable to control her anger, Yeo Reum admits that she saw Geun Ho coming out of the hall with clothes stained with blood. She recounts running inside and seeing the walls vandalized with red spray paint and Grandma lying on the floor.
“Had you reported him to the police, this wouldn’t have happened.”
At the funeral, the police explain the case to Bom’s father. And the moment he sees Yeo Reum, he slaps and blames her for not reporting the previous vandalism incidents. He says that it is her fault and that she killed Grandma. Bom, too, suddenly becomes distant from Yeo Reum.
Geun Ho’s parents visit the funeral and was instantly driven away by Jung Hoon. Crying that they are also victims, the parents persist in their son’s innocence.
“There’s something my Mom told me when I asked her if she wasn’t sad after my Dad passed away. She said life was like a bus ride. On the bus you’re driving, your parents, friends, and people you briefly crossed paths with are sitting as passengers. But eventually, they’ll all get off the bus.”
After a while, when no one is around, Yeo Reum finally pays her respect to Grandma and simply apologizes. Bom hears it from the next room and silently cries.
As the family and friends send off Grandma Young Sook, Yeo Reum keeps her distance from them. Sadly, she cannot even properly bid her farewell to the person she considered her mother.
“Welcome back, Ahn Dae Bum. He’s sucked into the black hole just like before. We’ll have to wait and see what he will bring us from there.”
Meanwhile, Dae Bum is too preoccupied with his project in Seoul with Professor Lee and talking to Professor Holland about the groundbreaking formula they created.
Though he still hasn’t solved the correct hawking radiation formula, he sees it to himself to find the right answer. He buries himself in an enormous amount of quantum mechanics books, temporarily forgetting his life in Angok. But it seems like his Seoul visit has been devised and planned all along.
Eun Mi, the secretary of Professor Lee, accidentally read a message between the professor and Sung Chul, saying that he posted it on the anonymous forum.
The plagiarism incident post was a devious scheme made by Professor to make Dae Bum come up to Seoul, knowing that he will not be able to resist helping.
“But, I shouldn’t have come here. If only they hadn’t met me, Dae Bum wouldn’t have been reminded of his painful past, and Bom’s grandma would’ve lived a long, happy life with Bom and Ha Neul. I should’ve never come here.”
Dreading his approaching return to the U.S., Jae Hoon is scared of drifting away and being forgotten by Bom when he moves back to his parents overseas. Giving him comforting words, Yeo Reum assures that Bom adores and appreciates him.
Meanwhile, she visits Bom to ask about her well-being and to apologize for what happened. Dejected, Bom expresses her rage and resentment towards Yeo Reum saying that she needs time.
Disheartened, she went home to prepare for her departure. Ji Young heard that Yeo Reum is leaving Angok and so she informs Dae Bum about it. Without any hesitation, Dae Bum drops everything and immediately returns home.
Summer Strike Episode 10 Musings
With Grandma’s tragic passing, the residents of Angok mourn her death especially his granddaughter Bom and Yeo Reum.
And because Yeo Reum is involved for being the sole witness and not reporting the previous incidents of Geun Ho going rogue, the fingers are directly pointed at her.
It instantly changes the whole trajectory and state of her relationship with the people, most especially the ones who are close to her.
In some ways, most of them are feeling regretful and guilty for treating Grandma Young Sook badly when she was alive that is why they lay the blame on her.
Take, for example, his son Jung Hoon, for spending most of his days drinking and not taking care of his mother. Also, Bom, whose last interaction with her Grandma is getting mad for not washing her shoes.
I’m still clinging to the hope that Dae Bum will be different from other people. After all, the truth has been out in the open and Geun Ho has already confessed to his crime. But with the preview suggesting otherwise, is there another culprit? Are the parents of Geun Ho telling the truth that their son did not harm Bom’s grandma?
