Summer Strike Episode 7 Highlights

“I’m Dae Bum. My name is Dae Bum, Yeo Reum.”

Previously, Dae Bum accompanied Ji Young to her interview in Seoul. Coming from the city, Dae Bum sped up the car so he could drop off Ji Young at the library and make it to Bom’s party.

He dashed to Yeo Reum’s home but soon as he was in front he can’t get to step foot in to her home. After all, that was where her sister and mother died.

Acting as their matchmaker, Gyeoul barked at the window so Yeo Reum will see him waiting downstairs. Thankfully, she saw Dae Bum standing and they all go for a walk. (good dog!)

In the morning, the two met each other while they are jogging. Excited for his new running buddy, Dae Bum created different courses for their morning routine.

As a beginner in exercising, Yeo Reum politely suggested that he should not mind her and just stick to his original route. That is when Dae Bum hinted that she should call him by his name and stop addressing him as Mr. Ahn. This only means that they should stop being so formal with each other.

“I like Yeo Reum. I mean, summer, the season.”

A progress in their friendship, Yeo Reum invited Dae Bum to a movie that she likes to which he agreed. Ji Young discovered their plans and directly admitted to him that she was hurt.

Adding to her distress, her car broke down as she watched the two walk away for their date. She calls Sung Min to the rescue to fix her car and becomes her shoulder to cry on.

Grateful for his help, Ji Young thanked him and said that he was the only person she has.

At the cinema, the two could not watch the movie because Yeo Reum booked the tickets that are showing for next week. Disappointed by her failed plan, Dae Bum then suggested a chicken and beer restaurant and listed different places to choose from.

While drinking and talking, a drunk man slipped behind them and got mad at Dae Bum. Remaining calm despite the man’s commotion, Dae Bum helped him stand up. As they are about to pay for their food and drinks, the two were surprised that the man paid for it, making Yeo Reum happy.

Keeping their selves entertained, they played the question-and-answer game to get to know each other’s favorites.

“Be honest. You’re happy that Sun Ah is dead, aren’t you?”

They are having the best time until Dae Bum saw the huge shocking writing “Did you kill Sun Ah?” on Yeo Reum’s home. Frightened by the sight, he hastily ran home and floundered at the desk for the calming pills. He even closed the window curtains. As he struggled to breathe, he saw his younger self standing in front of him playing a yoyo.

The next scene flashed back to years ago when he was being interrogated by the detectives for the case of her sister. They even accused the kid of being happy about her sister’s death because he didn’t like her. Stricken by his trauma, Dae Bum was taken to the hospital by Ji Young for a sedative injection.

As they drive home, Dae Bum asked Ji Young if she likes being friends with Sun Ah and she answered no since she bossed her around a lot. Then, Dae Bum admitted that he doesn’t like her sister because she’s the reason why their father gets mad at him.

Worried about Dae Dum’s situation of shutting himself to the world, Ji Young went to Yeo Reum and explained everything. She revealed that he sold his paper to his professor to pay for Bom’s hospital bill and that it caused him big trouble. Ji Young begged her that if she will not leave the town, she should help her so Dae Bum could leave from the traumatic place and heal mentally.

Cutting through the next shocking scene is Geun Ho, the son of the restaurant lady. He’s the one scribbling the wall with the red spray paint. It seems like his mom kept him from going outside because he was always blabbering on about killing Sun Ah.

“This is a huge fridge. Why is it completely empty? I thought you liked to cook.”

Bringing a huge amount of groceries, Jae Hoon introduced his home to Bom and she was stunned to see his empty fridge.

Suddenly, his aunt came home with his new English teacher and got angry seeing the two of them hanging out together.

His aunt chased Bom away but Jae Hoon followed her. While they sat down on the beach side, Bom admitted that he was jealous of him because of his well-off family while Jae Hoon is envious of her because she has her Grandma and brother Ha Neul.

Summer Strike Episode 7 Musings

While it has been revealed that the culprit behind the horrifying writings on Yeo Reum’s door is Geun Ho, the son of the restaurant lady, I am looking forward to knowing his connection to Sun Ah’s death.

From this, I can also confirm that there is indeed a bigger reason for her anger and hostility towards Yeo Reum.

Thus, my interest is fixated on knowing the truth behind Dae Bum’s sister’s mysterious passing since there are a lot of scenes that suggested different probabilities.

I believe it will be revealed in the latter part of the show since it’s one of the driving points of the series.

While I appreciate Ji Young’s concern towards Dae Bum, I think it’s unnecessary of her to be harsh to Yeo Reum when all she was trying to do was to be happy.

Summer Strike Episode 7

After this incident, I am rooting for their happiness even more. They are good people who strive for a good life and I think that is more than enough to say that they both deserve it.

My wish is to see Dae Bum recover from his trauma and stop guilting himself of the things he did not do.

It will be heartwarming to witness how she helps Dae Bum face and heal from his trauma.
