Surely Tomorrow Episodes 9 and 10 Highlights
“We have been waiting for a long time.”
Unfortunately, the designer turns down Ji-woo’s offer. Still, she hands over the contact number of her mentor, who will soon leave their old company and has yet to decide where to go next. So, it isn’t a complete loss.
After waiting stressfully for a few days, Ji-woo finally gets a call about the mentor accepting her offer. And the entire company is excited about this great news. Ji-woo’s success poses a threat to Ji-yeon’s husband’s plans, though. So, he plots to reveal that she is an illegitimate child.
That devious man has his accomplice (Ji-yeon’s junior secretary) triple the dose of medicine spiked in Ji-yeon’s coffee. And though she avoids drinking it, Ji-yeon’s seizures continue. That trashy man makes her go out in public barefoot, barely recognizing where she is. Happening upon this scene, Gyeong-do steps in to help her, but Ji-yeon doesn’t recognize him. Just then, Ji-woo arrives and learns about Ji-yeon’s illness in the worst way possible.
“How can a person do such a thing?”
Having learned the truth, Ji-woo is shocked and sad while also feeling betrayed by Gyeong-do since he kept her in the dark. Still, when Ji-yeon drops by, Ji-woo acts calm and understanding, resolving to work hard to support her sister and save the company. For now, Ji-woo pretends not to know anything about Ji-yeon’s illness and plays dumb before Ji-yeon’s husband, asking for his “support” in keeping the company afloat.
After ignoring Gyeong-do’s calls for a few days, Ji-woo finally picks up. She is confused about her feelings. She is grateful that he has been protecting her sister all along, but she can’t help but think back on their airport encounter. Did he stop her from travelling out of love or solely because of Ji-yeon’s request? Gyeong-do assures Ji-woo that he did it because he wanted her to stay with him. And then Ji-woo admits to being scared, and Gyeong-do promises to stay by her side.
“I can’t describe what I am feeling.”
The rumors about Ji-yeon quieten down after an article is published stating that her seizures are a side effect of a medicine and not Alzheimer’s. (Though it might take some time, Ji-yeon will probably recover if she stops taking that medicine.) But then, Ji-yeon’s husband strikes again, secretly conducting a DNA test between Ji-yeon, Ji-woo, and their mother to prove the sisters have different fathers.
Luckily, Ji-yeon figures out what her husband is up to. And since it is bound to get out one way or the other, with a nudge from Gyeong-do, Ji-woo musters up the courage to reveal her birth secret herself. Getting her mother’s approval, Ji-woo goes on with the interview with Gyeong-do’s superior. And the drama tries to give that cruel woman an unearned redemption arc, but we don’t buy her sympathetic act or her tears.
The article is published, and while many people are touched by Ji-woo’s sincerity, there is much backlash at the company. To cheer Ji-woo up, Gyeong-do takes her on a camping trip, and his parents invite her over for a family dinner.
Unable to accept his loss, Ji-yeon’s husband plans to brand Ji-woo as an adulteress, so that people will point fingers at her. Like mother, like daughter. But for now, our leads are blissfully unaware of the danger lurking around the corner.
Surely Tomorrow Episodes 9 and 10 Musings
That was a tough week to sit through, as it was mostly about the chaebol drama, the succession battle, and Ji-woo’s birth secret. The story was interesting when it focused on our leads, but now it has started to lose its charm. At least the journey is almost over. So, let’s hope for a satisfying ending.
