I was actually happy about the given K-Drama week rest for some dramas – that includes Tale of the Nine Tailed.
With the four episodes I missed in Tale of the Nine Tailed, a lot has already happened! Thankfully, I’m up to date now down the stretch.

Picking up on the events of eoduksini‘s game, Lee Yeon was given a perplexing situation. Definitely hard to pull off, he was asked to choose between two doors to either rescue his brother or his favorite woman. The catch? the two are battling their greatest fears.
Over at Lee Rang’s door, he is back at the zombie forest where he met first his brother. Mean time, at Ji-ah’s limbo, she sits in the same car with her parents in the night they disappeared after the accident.
Vanquishing eoduksini
Surprised to see his brother, Lee Rang is almost reaching his limit fighting the monsters. They fight off his fear as Lee Yeon finally clears how he never abandoned him. The fact that his sword intentionally missed him is a proof that his weight in his heart occupies a lot.
Meanwhile, Ji-ah battles her subconscious mind which feature a happy reunion with the parents she has been yearning to be with. Remembering Lee Yeon, she was able to escape the world where her fear thrives.
Only Lee Yeon is left to wake up from the creepy mind game. Pretending he’s about to give up, he meets the eoduksini to send a message to imoogi that he is ready to face him.
A series of traps
In episode 10, a quite lengthy back story to the truth behind Ah-eum’s death was unveiled. Lee Yeon chronicled his love story and promises Ji-ah that their love begins again.
Lee Rang was summoned by CEO Kwon and cuts a deal to bring Lee Yeon to them. Ji-ah temporarily stays at Lee Yeon’s place as Shin-ju finally tracked where the imoogi stays.
Through a mummy case, Ji-ah deduced the nail art she found at CEO Kwon’s house and confronts him about it. Revealing her parents are kept as hostage, she was also given a task to bring Lee Yeon to him.
Ji-ah reunites with her parents
The imoogi through CEO Kwon’s power enter Ji-ah’s team as an intern. He also meets Lee Yeon for the first time and flaunts his power of inducing mass suicide in broad daylight.
Ji-ah has also unveiled to Sae-rom and Jae-hwan their interconnected pasts as well as introduce her gumiho boyfriend.
Lee brothers manage to defeat the traps laid by CEO Kwon to lure Lee Yeon whom the imoogi wants to own as his vessel. That also secured Ji-ah’s parents who were imprisoned inside the ground cherries.
Reuniting with her parents, Ji-ah is bothered by a dream where she saw the imoogi. She shared it with Lee Yeon who can’t reveal yet why she’s feeling that connection with the imoogi.
Lee Yeon’s Dilemma
Unbeknownst to Lee Yeon, the imoogi has been rounding down the people closest to him, putting them on a trance and instructions that were yet to be revealed,
He also hypnotized Yuri to fatally attack Lee Rang. To save his brother, and Ji-ah’s juniors at work, they work together in subduing the imoogi.
It was also revealed that the imoogi was once a human who suffered a cruel fate because of humans. Deducing the villain wanting to have a heart, Ji-ah keeps him busy while Lee Yeon search for the horse blood tipped by Jae-hwan to be imoogi’s weakness.
Shin-ju was able to save the hypnotized Jae-hwan and Saerom.
Setting up the trap to the imoogi, Lee Yeon confronts a deja vu that will test his and Ji-ah’s love.
Tale of the Nine Tailed Episodes 9 – 12 Musings *Spoiler Alert
Honestly, Tale of the Nine Tailed is packed with twist and turns that makes its story engrossing to watch. But how it has been layering the urgency of the romance to be fulfilled is something that I am not feeling that much in the series.
It felt gratifying to see the main characters’ individual goals come true. Like how Lee brothers reconcile and Ji-ah’s reunion to her parents. Even Shin-ju establishing clear connection to Yu-ri has had me say yass! in the series.
But this complicated romance keeps really testing a viewer’s patience. Also, what’s holding Grandma Taluipa in not detailing what Lee Yeon needs to be done.
After the 12th episode, we are back to the same problem Lee Yeon had in the past. That his lady love’s body is connected to an imoogi. More so, what we thought to be a part connection turns out to be a crucial one.
Because it’s not just one, but two imoogis that Lee Yeon has to vanquish now. And he does not have mother’s love like Harry Potter to protect him. Will it be Ji-ah’s love then which will ultimately fight for their victory? Or will Lee Yeon make a miraculous sacrifice that will protect him and his loved ones?
With his brother Lee Rang still unconscious and the cryptic instructions the imoogi gave to Shin-ju and Snail Bride still hanging as to what it is, Lee Yeon has a handful to do and four episodes to clear everything.
