Tastefully Yours Episodes 7 and 8 Highlights

“I, the head chef of Le Murir, will take over the restaurant and move it a step further as the new chef-owner.”

Confronting Mr. Ex-boyfriend about his partnership with Sun-woo, he claims he will be helping out only temporarily. But Beom-woo can see through his plan to jump ships. But if Mr. Ex-boyfriend intends to shift sides, why drag Yeon-joo into this?

Blissfully unaware of all the schemes brewing around, Yeon-joo focuses on figuring out the dish her former mentor craves but doesn’t even remember. In a touching gesture, we learn that the former mentor wants to eat some special noodles Yeon-joo cooked when she was a rookie. It was the first staff dinner she made. And though the former mentor scolded Yeon-joo that day, he kept craving that dish after she left. Yet no one could get the taste right.

Thankfully, the former mentor enjoys his food. Recognizing Yeon-joo, he apologizes for not standing up for her back then, and they share a soft moment. Taking advantage of the former mentor’s brief mental clarity, The Ex-boyfriend gets him to sign over the restaurant, declaring himself before the staff as the new chef-owner.

The next step in Mr Ex-boyfriend’s plan is to sell off the restaurant as per the deal he made with Sun-woo. But at the last minute, Beom-woo intervenes and vetoes Sun-woo’s M&A proposal. The former mentor hears about it all. Yet, surprisingly, he isn’t mad at Mr. Ex-boyfriend for conspiring behind his back, but gives him another chance to work together to save the restaurant.

“How could you toy with my sincerity?”

Exchanging one last conversation, Yeon-joo and Mr. Ex-boyfriend bid each other farewell and flip the page of this chapter of their lives. On that note, Beom-woo and Yeon-joo fly back to Korea. But awaiting them is an unpleasant surprise. After Sun-woo dismissed her, Young-hye returned to the restaurant Beom-woo used to manage. Getting wind some prominent food inspectors might drop by to check the restaurant out, Young-hye stole Yeon-joo’s recipe book and used it to impress the food inspectors.

When Beom-woo calls her out for stealing other people’s efforts and taking credit for it, Young-hye counters he was the one who showed her the fast route. Now that they have the recipes, Beom-woo should wrap things up quickly in the village and come back. The chairwoman agrees with Young-hye and awaits Beom-woo’s return. Also, he owes her one after she got him reinstated and helped him dismiss the M&A.

Circling back to the fire incident, we learn the identity of the culprit who burned Yeon-joo’s restaurant, none other than one of Beom-woo’s many victims. Having acquired the man’s restaurant and snatched the recipes, Beom-woo shut down the business. The man protested before the company for months, but no one batted an eye. Tracing Beom-woo to the countryside, he set Yeon-joo’s restaurant on fire, though we have to say Yeon-joo and the others were innocent in all of this.

With everything going around, Beom-woo feels the urgency to come clean, but gets cold feet after Yeon-joo suggests the team go on a temple stay to refresh their minds. Yeon-joo opens up to Beom-woo about being raised in the temple after getting abandoned. The head monk was a mother figure to her, and the monks were her aunts and uncles. She brought him there to introduce him to the head monk, her mother. As much as Beom-woo is elated to get closer to Yeon-joo, the guilt is gnawing at him. So, he resolves to tell her the truth as soon as they return.

Except, it is too late. Livid about Beom-woo’s restaurant getting 3 stars (which means Beom-woo is officially the heir), Sun-woo drops by the village and reveals the truth to Yeon-joo in the worst way possible. Ignoring Beom-woo’s pleas to let him tell Yeon-joo the truth, Sun-woo argues Beom-woo only worked there to steal the recipes and shut the restaurant down afterward. When Beom-woo counters he got a change of heart after working with Yeon-joo and the others, Sun-woo reveals that Young-hye got 3 stars after serving one of Yeon-joo’s dishes.

As we end our penultimate week, both our leads are devastated and bawling their eyes out. The feeling of betrayal cut deep into Yeon-joo’s heart, especially given how she took a step toward Beom-woo this week and reciprocated his feelings after shutting off her heart for so long. But now, their fate is up in the wind.

Tastefully Yours Episodes 7 and 8 Musings

Honestly speaking, Beom-woo had it coming for all the terrible things he did in the past and the multiple lies he told Yeon-joo since they first met. But the timing couldn’t be any worse. Beom-woo finally took the decision to give up on everything and start afresh with Yeon-joo. He no longer cared about the company or being the heir, and even told Sun-woo about it. But the news of the 3 stars got Sun-woo to act ruthlessly and ruin Beom-woo’s chances at love and success.

With one week left, the drama has two major plotlines to wrap up: saving Yeon-joo’s restaurant and giving our lead a happy ending. It won’t be easy, but let’s hope for a satisfying conclusion.
