The Law Cafe Episode 3 Highlights
“It’ll be hard, but it doesn’t mean it’s impossible.”
Yu-ri feels her heart beating fast and regrets what she told Mr. Cho. As she feels it’s her fault that the man almost jumped from the building, Jung-ho reassures her it wasn’t.
Cooking for Yu-ri in her house, Jung-ho becomes in awe of how messy it is. Feeling her heart beating fast again, Jung-ho suspects that Yu-ri’s panic attack came back since she had it when her father died in an accident. Recalling back then, Jung-ho was always there for Yu-ri before realizing it was a psychological condition.
Following Jung-ho’s suggestion, Yu-ri meets Woo-jin in his clinic. She describes her situation and claims that it isn’t a panic attack. For now, he trusts Yu-ri’s words and reminds her of looking out for the symptoms while sharing how he’s been taking medications for anxiety and depression.
Jung-ho comes down to the cafe, walking towards Yu-ri. Feeling her heart again, Yu-ri follows Woo-jin’s suggestions on handling her situation and flees to meet Mr. Cho.
In the hospital, Mr. Cho recovers and reveals he was a musician in the past. As he was divorced from his wife because of his drinking problems, his sensitivity to noise became worse.
He thanks Yu-ri for taking his case, and tells her he is willing to start a lawsuit as she has suggested. However, Mr. Cho tells he has to apologize first to his wife before doing so.
“Those people don’t care about laws or government policies. They just want their lives to improve.”
Relaying Mr. Cho’s apology, his wife tells she is not yet ready to fully forgive as her child had nightmares of Mr. Cho’s banging hammer.
Meanwhile, Mr. Hwang hears that the novel has events similar to what happened inside Dohan and pushes to threaten the editor of the novel until it is taken down.
Although the editor claims he doesn’t know personally the writer, he calls Kim Jung-ho panicking with the threats. He tries to persuade Jung-ho to write more cheerful stories, but he is confident in pushing a lawsuit if necessary.
With the help of the two neighborhood ladies, Yu-ri gathers the residents of Pureun apartment. She explains to the residents their rights to file a lawsuit against Dohan Construction which did not follow their proposed model in the actual construction.
Jung-ho interferes with her explanation, discouraging the residents from the small compensation they could get. Yu-ri then gets angry at Jung-ho for interfering and doing nothing.
Mr. Cho’s wife comes at night, stating her consent to file a lawsuit, and in the morning other residents follow.
Segregating trash together, Yu-ri asks for a solution from Jung-ho’s numerous critiques. With open ears, she listens to Jung-ho’s idea of involving Dohan’s luxury apartments in Pureun apartment’s noise issue.
“Criticizing something without an alternative solution is cowardly.”
Attracting attention for their noise complaint concert, their video reaches Dohan who plans to take the video down and sue them.
Excited by the reaction, Yu-ri prepares for their next step. The neighborhood and Yu-ri swoon at Jung-ho who is dressed formally.
Arriving at Dohan, Jung-ho tells Yu-ri she can still back out, but she moves forward confidently being the queen of lost trials but with a specialty in pre-trial settlements.
Stating their case in their video, Yu-ri offers the legal team of Dohan to avoid going into a lawsuit and hands a paper of their requests.
Confident they will not lose, Jung-ho chimes in with Yu-ri on how another lawyer could take this case in the future, convincing the legal team to settle now than later.
Coming down to their agreement, Yu-ri feels unsatisfied with the team’s offer. She gets called a beggar, but she comes back at them for being frugal for repair costs, making their offer higher.
Representative residents of Palacio Hills Apartment arrive, and after a meeting, Yu-ri exits happily playing in the rain for their success.
“Even if you fall for someone and your world is shaken, if you do not start acting, nothing begins.”
Soaked in the rain, Yu-ri feels her heart beating again after Jung-ho puts his jacket on her.
Gathered residents who signed the litigation form rejoice in their case’s success with 8,000 dollars to be received per household. Mr. Cho then expresses his gratitude to Yu-ri for standing up for their case like it was hers.
President Lee lashes at Mr. Hwang after discovering that Yu-ri used to work at Hwang & Goo. Realizing Yu-ri has no fear, President Lee voices his plans for her.
Other residents who did not join sign the litigation form crowd Yu-ri’s office. Since the case has already been settled, she just hands them her cards with a promise to stand up for her future clients no matter what.
Celebrating the law cafe’s first success, a mysterious man watches from afar.
Playing the truth game while drunk, Yu-ri asks Jung-ho if he enjoyed being with her in this case. Changing her question, she asks him the reason for dumping her, revealing to everyone they used to date after being dumped by a senior who cheated on her.
She proceeds in proposing to be partners, but Se-yeon gets rushed to the hospital and gives birth.
Trying to finish what she said, Jung-ho rejects her offer. Entering her cafe, Yu-ri sees it messy with broken shattered glass and blood. Jung-ho comes to cover her eyes and carry her.
The Law Cafe Episode 3 Musings
Because of Jung-ho’s personality of being direct and realistic, Yu-ri faces facts that are hard to swallow in life. It’s natural for humans to prioritize themselves, and some would rather be comfortable than be bothered fighting for people’s rights.
However, what’s notable with Jung-ho is his hidden passion for standing up for people using his creative mind. So far, we’ve seen him using his novel to go against Dohan, and in this episode is music for a noise complaint.
While they are finding solutions in this episode’s case, Yu-ri feels shaken being with Jung-ho. Glad to see her become aware of what she feels by the end of the episode because surely, it’s not a panic attack every time she sees Jung-ho.
Meanwhile, Jung-ho keeps pushing Yu-ri away, rejecting her offer to become partners. He says mean things to her and tries to discourage her by reminding her of their contract, but it’s he who keeps violating the terms in the contract.
A new case awaits Yu-ri’s law cafe at the end of the episode while President Lee wouldn’t sit still with what recently happened. More heart confusion also awaits Yu-ri with Jung-ho around.
