In a set of light-hearted episodes for a change, we follow our leads as they act as husband and wife with all the awkwardness and cuteness this entails.
It isn’t all sunshine and rainbows, though, and soon our leads find themselves face-to-face with people from their past, putting everything they have gained at risk.

The Tale Of Lady Ok Episodes 11 and 12 Highlights
“Why does my heart run ahead of yours like a child urging you to come?”
Now that Tae-young has accepted him as her husband, Seung-hwi is on cloud nine and his grin extends from ear to ear. Though he sulks a bit since Tae-young won’t let him sleep in her room. This matter is solved, though, when the roof of Seung-hwi’s room “collapses” and he has nowhere to go but Tae-young’s room.
To help Tae-young focus better on the legal office, Seung-hwi takes over managing the household affairs. Not only that, but Seung-hwi also cheers Tae-young up, walks her home down a starlit path, listens attentively to her, helps her with paperwork, and becomes her storyteller at night to help cure her severe insomnia. The only time Tae-young can sleep peacefully is when Seung-hwi lies beside her.
“Please don’t tell me to go away when I have nowhere else to go.”
Though she doesn’t say it openly, Tae-young is more relaxed with Seung-hwi around and is glad to have him by her side. But this happiness is cut short when Tae-young spots some strange men lurking around, whom she suspects to be slave hunters coming after her. All this time, Tae-young had no one to rely on and took everything upon herself. Now that she finally got some love, Tae-young is scared Seung-hwi might get harmed because of her. So, she lashes out at him when Seung-hwi comes home late instead of telling him the truth.
When Seung-hwi storms out following their argument, Tae-young is scared that Seung-hwi left for good. She goes looking for him barefoot. And when Tae-young finally finds him, Seung-hwi is surrounded by the slave hunters. Understandably misinterpreting the situation, Tae-young picks up some rocks from the street to defend Seung-hwi. But the truth is Seung-hwi called for the men himself and asked them to search for ‘Tae-young’s” father, hoping she will sleep peacefully if she gets reunited with his father.
With tears in her eyes, Tae-young admits to being scared of losing Seung-hwi. But Seung-hwi is already head over heels for her and would never leave. So Tae-young should follow her heart and live happily together with him. At long last, Tae-young acts on her feelings, asking Seung-hwi not to leave. And his reply is to hold Tae-young in his arms.
In an interesting turn of events, Seung-hwi plans on taking the state exam, though he was never one to care about academics. Cue: Tae-young stepping in as his tutor and arranging a strict schedule for him to follow. It melts our hearts watching Seung-hwi go through all that basic learning at his age just to become someone worthy of Tae-young. Fortunately, Seung-hwi’s efforts pay off. Not only does he pass the exam, but he also comes in first. Hooray! Tae-young helped two people become top scholars.
“Even if you hate me, please be a good father to the child.”
As for the other couple, things aren’t going well for them. Wrongly believing Mi-ryeong doesn’t have feelings for him and only married him for her revenge, Do-gyum treats her coldly, claiming that he only allowed her back into the house because of the child. Hence, breaking Mi-ryeong’s heart.
Thanks to Seung-hwi, Do-gyum realizes that the reason why he is mad at Mi-ryeong is because he cares for her and his feelings didn’t change even after learning the truth. When he returns home, Do-gyum tries to have an honest conversation with Mi-ryeong, but they end up fighting. Worse, Mi-ryeong starts bleeding and suspects she has a miscarriage. Yet, as it turns out, Mi-ryeong was never pregnant to begin with.
Worried Do-gyum will misinterpret the situation for Mi-ryeong deceiving him so she can stay in the house, Mi-ryeong packs up and leaves. Realizing she was gone, Do-gyum almost goes nuts looking for Mi-ryeong, especially after learning from Mi-ryeong’s adoptive father that she only followed her mother’s words because Mi-ryeong was scared of getting abandoned again. Thankfully, Do-gyum finds Mi-ryeong soon and they reconcile. Further, Do-gyum gets appointed in Hanyang and moves there with Mi-ryeong. Which might mark the end of their story.
“How can you send your only daughter to be a concubine to an old man?”
Just as everything gets sorted out, angst rears its ugly head. Hearing that the newly appointed magistrate scammed almost everyone in the village out of their money, Tae-young goes to meet him, only to come face to face with the father of the lady she used to serve, whom she attacked with a sickle. That man survived the attack and bought off a government position in return for bribes and sending his daughter off to become Lord Park’s concubine.
At first, that nasty lady is sour about becoming a concubine. But she succumbs to her fate since Lord Park is a powerful man who can help her locate “Tae-young” and get revenge on her. As we end this week, “Tae-young” runs into her former lady, who recognizes her at a glance.
Lady Tae-young looking like Gu-deok -the runaway servant- might pass off as a coincidence, but how can our leads explain that Tae-young’s husband looks identical to Seung-hwi, the man that nasty lady almost married before he fell in love with her servant? One resemblance can pass off as a coincidence, but not two!
The Tale Of Lady Ok Episodes 11 and 12 Musings
Those were the most light-hearted episodes we got in the drama. And that change was much-needed indeed, given all the tension we got before. Even without that cliffhanger, we could tell it was the calm before the storm that is Tae-young’s real identity getting exposed. Our hearts went out to Tae-young when she said they were basking in happiness, wholly oblivious to the angst brewing in the background.
We knew it was going to be difficult for Tae-young to keep the ruse forever, but that is cruel. She barely got to enjoy a bit of happiness when the lady “Tae-young” used to serve showed up and recognized her at a glance. Seriously! Does that nasty lady have nothing better to do? We have no sympathy for that nasty lady getting sold off as a concubine since she had it coming with all the cruelties she committed to the servants. Can’t someone already take her away, along with her corrupt father and Lord Park?
We are getting into the drama’s final arc and things will get intense next week. Still, we have faith in the drama to find a way to save our leads. There is a hidden figure lurking around Tae-young’s house who might be a friend or a foe. The real Yoon-gyum? Someone who knows Tae-young’s real identity? We don’t know anything for sure, but let’s hold on to hope and root for our leads. Fingers crossed that they will make it out safely and get their much-deserved happy ending.
