Why Her Mid-Series Highlights
“The one who throws bait doesn’t necessarily have the upper hand.”
Witnessing the explosion, Chan consoles Oh Soo-jae and stays the night with her.
Meanwhile, Director Baek and Yoon Se-pil visit Eun-seo who falls into a state of panic.
After defying Chairman Choi’s order to attend an event, Soo-jae arrives at school with detectives waiting to arrest her without a warrant.
Although warned of the risks of a warrantless arrest, they continue to handcuff Soo-jae, which Chan covers with his scarf.
Angered by the event, Yoon-sang storms to his father’s office, but he is confronted for sneaking into the Chairman’s hidden office.
Soo-jae asks Chan to water her plants, and he comes to her house with Lawyer Song to collect essential things. Coming with a locksmith, Ju-wan also retrieves items from Soo-jae’s house.
Delighted by the recent events, Assemblyman Lee promises Chairman Choi that he will be appointed to the ministry of justice if he wins the presidential race. Thinking about it alone, Chairman Choi finds it ridiculous.
“I can admit it. I committed a crime, so I’m being punished for it. The only unfair part is that my sentence is too harsh for the crime I committed.”
Left in the interrogation room, the police are eager to hear a confession from Oh Soo-jae after hearing the doubts of Lawyer Song after watching the video of Hong Seok-pal.
Dropping her phone on purpose, Soo-jae whispers that the last part of the video was not her voice.
Gathering the legal clinic team, the team decides to gather evidence on their own to disprove the allegations against Soo-jae.
Meanwhile, Mr. Ha hands Chairman Choi the USB Soo-jae obtained. On behalf of TK Law firm, Choi Ju-wan releases a public statement on Soo-jae’s arrest.
Released in the press also by SP partners, the sell-off of Hansu Bio is put on hold.
Recognizing hand signals on Hong Seok-pal’s video, they decode that Mr. Ha is involved in the series of events.
In the warrant review, Oh Soo-jae’s case gets dismissed proving that her voice in the latter part of the video is fabricated. Also, Han Gi-taek takes on the blame for Hong Seok-pal’s death.
Although Mr. Ha headed the plan, Gi-taek obediently followed Chairman Choi to take the fall.
Kneeling down to his father, Yoon-sang offers to be a double agent to his father for Soo-jae.
“When you’re too ambitious, you’re bound to lose even the things that you can have.”
Warmly welcomed to Chan’s house after her release, Soo-jae decides to stay until her building gets renovated.
Questioning why Soo-jae has not yet been swept out of the picture, Chairman Choi gains an upper ground against Assemblyman Lee using the records of Hong Seok-pal’s bar. He then proceeds to say that he wants constitutional change into a parliamentary system.
Yoon-sang announces his departure from the legal clinic and moves in with his father.
In Choi Ju-wan’s divorce, the alimony asked from him is high, which implies his wife knows the dirt on him.
Creating an issue about Soo-jae living in the building of Chan, the legal clinic’s long lines disprove the move to disqualify her position.
On the other hand, Soo-jae recommends Min Young-bae and his wife to the positions offered to her by Chairman Han and Assemblyman Lee.
Eating with Chairman Choi, Soo-jae admits that she has a copy of the USB. Yoon-sang tells Soo-jae his plans to become her intern, and hears from her how she appreciates the warm feeling in Chan’s house.
Drinking with Mr. Yoon, Soo-jae discovers that Director Baek is connected with Mr. Yoon through Kang Eun-seo.
Called to assist her mother in a DUI case, Chan brings Soo-jae to the ocean, and shares a passionate kiss, promising to stay by each other’s side no matter what.
“To stay motivated, you need something to look forward to.”
Following the request of Chairman Han, Chairman Choi destroys the USB that contains records from Hong Seok-pal.
Heated during the meeting for the sell-off of Hansu Bio, Director Han walks out and is consoled by Ju-wan.
With his plans to buy the house Chairman Han used to own, Mr. Yoon tells Soo-jae that it might hold some crucial information.
Bits of Eun-seo’s past coming outside that house bruised and hit by a car is shown.
Changing her mind, Ju-wan’s wife requests to Chairman Choi that she take Jae-yi with her, and wishes to check who her biological mom is.
Chan breaks into tears after meeting his stepmom again who recognizes him as Kim Dong-gu. Ready to admit everything to Soo-jae, she gets called to the incident at Yeongpyeong’s construction site.
Reviewing the incident, the water leaks and risks have been previously ignored by Chairman Han, and one of the victims is the son of Soo-jae’s old classmate.
Adding to the troubles, Chairman Han’s son causes trouble on the road and gets covered by the press.
Finally finding the body of the last survivor at the construction site, skeletons are also seen, wherein Chan recognizes the familiar key charm made by his step-sister.
Going up the rooftop to call Chan, Soo-jae enters the locked room, and discovers that Chan is Kim Dong-gu.
Why Her Mid-Series Musings
Gong Chan always arrives or calls at the right time to protect Oh Soo-jae. Although issues are bound to come, they are unfazed to continue what they have.
As a team in the legal clinic, much has been also revealed along the process, such as Yoon-sang being the son of TK Law firm. Despite that, they still share the same motivation to help Professor Oh.
Seeing how Soo-jae has been handling Choi Ju-wan’s divorce, there is much more to see in the mess his character has created.
Even in tight-knit powerful trios, a hierarchy can crumble down with simple differences and discord. Disregarding small seemingly insignificant things such as risks to large projects can make it actually collapse as a whole.
With the recent discoveries of skeletons and Eun-seo’s past, it appears that there is a deeper pit to the corporation’s illegalities.
