Our “barista bromance” reached a despondent point in the 10th episode of Would You Like A Coffee.
They nurse their broken hearts with alcohol and circling paths, but ultimately they realize there are things bound to be given up to explore new possibilities.

Would You Like A Cup of Coffee Episode 10 Key Moments + Musings
Forced to make a decision with a heavy heart, Park Seok sent his mentee to his junior’s big cafe for a “field trip”. There Go-bi learned the value of specialty coffee along with the attention to technical and creative details that make a trendsetting and profitable cafe business.
Unknown to Gobi, his mentor is not in a good position talking to keep the cafe place with the new owner. He used to have a good landlord-tenant relationship with the ajumma owner, but her son, the new owner, insists on not extending the lease contract.
Painfully making a decision to send his bright student to his friend who owns a popular and high-rated cafe, Gobi accepts Park Seok’s decision to dismiss him from his job. It took me a few minutes of contemplation why Park Seok did not reveal the real reason. I can only concede to how he wants to face the pain alone.
It’s truly understandable since 2nd Generation Coffee Shop is synonymous with him. However, if truth be told, Gobi coming into his life as a barista is one of the most memorable events.
On the thriving coffee shop business
Still, obviously, he can assess Gobi was not comforted by the lie. While Gobi can make himself understand that he’s being given wider exposure to his goal of becoming a true blue barista, his connection with Park Seok is every bit special. Thus, the sudden decision is hard to process on Gobi’s end.
In this episode, we meet Choi Heart again. As always, his eloquence strikes with a couple of lingering messages. First, how a product or service would generate patron loyalty for being just plain good. Any paid or word-of-mouth promotion won’t matter as long as a customer gets the same satisfaction he or she gets from the product or service.
Second, how making up with real talent and genuine passion to serve authentic coffee can generate good reviews. That specifically describes Park Seok’s coffee shop. However, money-making cafe businesses like what Mr. Eom has can’t be looked down as well.
Through efficient and scientific business approaches, franchise coffee shops thrive as well. Despite the homey signature of quaint neighborhood coffee shops, they compensate for the lacking elements through progressive and creative ideas.
Gobi’s plan
From the emotional confrontation after “Gobi’s field trip” to them saying “goodbye for the last time” the next day, it’s hard to form theories if this amazing master-mentee will really call it quits. Unfortunately, the next episode’s preview does not help at all in giving us something to mull over.
“Thank you for everything. I’m sorry that I couldn’t give back when you have given so much to me. I hope you will always be well.” This grateful line from Gobi to Park Seok captured anyone’s feelings with someone he has an unfinished appreciation for. Let this be a reminder to say hi and leave a message to your favorite mentors.
Is retirement imminent for Park Seok? Will Gobi venture for experience in a new cafe?
