Would You Like a Cup of Coffee Episode 4 Key Moments Musings
Diligent-writer-single-mom Joo-hee receives a call from one of the media companies about a revision in her recent work. Catering to the male audience, she got constructive feedback from the editor.
This episode also detailed her impeccable work discipline as a contributing writer who always beats her deadline without not much alterations to be done. Along with that, it subtly hints at the common restrictions faced by any writer.
Her bad day continues when her estranged ex-husband whose only bright contribution in her life is their daughter approached her. As if he has never caused her pain, he proposes for her to sell the house she lives in with their daughter. It turns out he needs investment money.
When she opens up with her daughter about moving to a new house, Joo-hee’s daughter deduces her shameless dead was behind her mom’s somber mood. Assuring her that they have each other, she expressed frustration over her mom’s ability to tolerate her father.
Over at the cafe, Gobi gets another lesson from Park Seok as they offer free drink over a cup for busy customers who usually get their fill through their tumblers.
He teaches Gobi that there are still people who can be patient to sit and try the free coffee drink. Thus, it’s not a bad idea to serve it.
Park Seok, through Gobi’slead, visits his girlfriend to lend a listening ear and bring coffee that she misses badly that day.
Would You Like a Cup of Coffee Episode 4 Musings
After watching this episode, I thought it would be hard to extract what messages to ponder. But the moment I started typing, I was surprised that my thoughts kept on running.
First, Park Seok’s worth pondering lesson on “varying preferences” sheds a light on how we need to respect different views and choices in any kind of setting. We will always encounter peculiar people virtually and in real life. Forcing them to go to what the majority dictates should never be encouraged.
Next, confronting bouts of acknowledging gaps and relenting to the set standard is normal when nurturing a career. Just like Joo-hee who accepted the feedback on her latest work, despite it being preferential to cushion a sensitive issue or gentle chiding of an existing situation.
Presenting the struggles of being a single parent, we see how Joo-hee is lucky to have a daughter that is wise beyond her years. It is a warm representation of how the cycle of raising a child, at some point reaches a stage when a parent would feel her child is rearing him back.
Honestly, the 25-minutes was not enough for Joo-hee-centered story in this episode. Hopefully, we get a more solid picture or just focus on her relationship with Park Seok.
