My Best Friend’s Story (流金岁月)

Starring Ni Ni and Liu Shishi, two of China’s most famous and recognizable female stars, this 2020 series is set in modern Shanghai, where two women with different backgrounds find a close bond with each other.

Zhu Suosuo is taken in by a wealthy family where she meets Jiang Nansun, and the two become close friends. Zhu becomes a successful career woman, while Jiang pursues an academic route.

When the Jiang family falls into despair, Zhu reaches out to help Jiang get on track again.

iQiyi’s BL selections also include two iconic Korean films – The King and The Clown (2005) and A Frozen Flower (2008).

The King and The Clown stars Kam Woo Sung and Lee Joon Gi in their first-ever lead role. This film focuses on two clowns Jangsaeng and Gong-gil who go into the capital and impress the king with their antics.

After the king falls in love with Gong-gil, he begins to become increasingly tyrannical, and this also draws the jealousy of the main concubines.

Jangsaeng finds himself becoming jealous, and tries to convince Gong-gil to escape the clutches of the king with him.

Meanwhile, A Frozen Flower is another classic South Korean film, starring Jo In Sung, Joo Jin Mo and Song Ji Hyo.

The film depicts an ancient king and his lover, the military commander Hong-rim, who end up turning against each other after Hong-rim betrays the king and falls for the queen.

In their final duel, the two recall their happy times together when they were younger.
