So far, the cases of vanquished unrested spirits gave meaningful lessons about unfair treatments prevalent in society. Other stories also impress with heartening lessons about different kinds of relationships.

Aligning to the month-long celebration of family relationships, Sell Your Haunted House featured two stories about parent-children love in its recent episodes.

A vanished parent haunting his old house brings together his estranged children. This case touches on a familiar scenario for families with elderly parents needing time-consuming care.

In another story, a mother confronts the pain of how she was the reason for her daughter’s death after succumbing to the pressure of an apartment complex catering to a social mix. Tackling social disparity, a lesson on how overachieving parents might be hurting their children in the process was presented.

Sell Your Haunted House Mid-Series Musings

I love everything about Sell Your Haunted House so far. Each ghost-obliterating mission has a touch of polished conception and execution while presenting the big picture of Ji-a and In-bum’s connection. Now that the secret is open, will the two find a way to mutually compromise to unravel the real truth behind their loved ones’ death?

Individual portrayals of Jang Nara and Jung Yong Hwa are also melting well into the narrative. At the same time, their chemistry is worth applauding. The synergy also extends to the supporting actors which brings me to the next question of the secret Hwa-jung is hiding.

Inevitably, the second half of the series will be driven by how the protagonists would serve the justice worth of all the evil deeds Dohak construction has incurred through the years. Explanation on In-bum’s special supernatural ability is expected to be explained as well. It is maybe related to why albeit being a strong psychic, he can’t put Ji-a’s mom to rest. Either that or it is connected to what really happened that night.

What to expect in the 2nd half of the series?

Hopefully, the emotionally intense confrontation in the dying minutes of episode 8 won’t linger. Honestly, I want more ghost-vanquishing cases. But, it might be going side by side with the path and acceptance for both Ji-a and In-bum who are yet to come to terms with their beloved family members’ passing.

Finding the meaning of life and death is faintly inserted in each case tackled by Daebak Realty. Although highlighting disheartening deaths, it emphasizes on encouraging us that life’s happiness is not a destination, the memories we create are the happiness itself.

Ji-a has toughened her facade out of years encountering just how people can be cruel to those unrested spirits. Experiencing those harrowing moments has made her take the easy route. However, In-bum’s warm-hearted nature somehow gets to her subconsciously making her do things she typically would not do.

Our endearing hero who has been reformed thanks to the ghost possessing experiences he tackled is interestingly conceptualized. Jung Yong Hwa’s characterization is truly complementing the equally engrossing portrayal of Jang Nara.
