Set in the near future, The Silent Sea chronicles the story of an elite team on a special mission to an abandoned research base on the moon, as resource depletion has devastated the Earth.

Korea’s Space and Aeronautics Administration discovers the answer to humanity’s survival. Then, they plan another moon exploration mission led by an elite team that includes astrobiologist Song Jian (Bae Doona), team leader Han Yunjae (Gong Yoo), head engineer Ryu Taesuk (Lee Joon), team doctor Doc Hong (Kim Sun Young), head of security Gong Soohyuk (Lee Mu Saeng), and spacecraft pilot Kim Heesun (Lee Sung-wook).
Due to an accident, their destination was the Balhae Lunar Research Station, which closed down five years ago. They embark on the critical mission to “retrieve an important sample from the station and return to earth.”
However, they confront an enormous challenge when their spaceship crashes lands on the moon.
An Unknown Danger Lurks At The Balhae Station
Shrouded in mystery, the team barely makes it to Balhae Lunar Research Station. Dead bodies with unexplained causes of death and an unidentified signal of life, the team is thrown into chaos.
While Song Jian starts to doubt the government’s claims, she believes that the station was permanently closed down due to an accident.
Subsequently, she develops suspicions about the mysteries concealed throughout the Balhae Lunar Research Station. Tensions between life and death confront the elite team as they search for a means of survival.
As one member chokes up blood-like water, the others get an instinctive sense that strange things are going to happen at the station. Their attempts to escape the station and communicate with the outside world fail, leaving them imprisoned in what appears to be a secret trap room.
