PRESS CONFERENCE: “Blind” Highlights Character Emotions, Promises Unpredictable and Gripping Story

Blind

Launched earlier, tvN’s new Friday-Saturday series, Blind, held its online drama presentation.

Director Shin Yong-hwi, Ok Taecyeon, Ha Seok Jin, and Jung Eun Ji were in attendance.

Blind traverses the story of discovering the true culprit of a serial murder case involving a court jury following the conclusion of a trial.

It navigates stories of ordinary citizens who have become unfair victims and the perpetrators who close their eyes to the uncomfortable truth.

Recounting the casting process, Director Shin revealed how he didn’t know about the three actors at all before casting. He

“When I received the script and thought about casting, I felt that the synchrony rate was to some extent right, and I discussed it with the writer. Ok Taecyeon was perfect with Sung-jun and Ha Seok Jin nailed a difficult role. Eunji harmonized the gap personally and in character.”

A Riveting Story

Sharing about the thrilling high he experienced when he read the script, Ok Taecyeon revealed the fast-paced narrative that viewers can anticipate.

“I couldn’t take my eyes off of the script that ran from part 1 to part 4. The unfolding of events was fast-paced. Also, it was a character I wanted to express a lot.”

Likewise, Ha Seok Jin praised the thrilling and quick-paced narrative. He also hints at the genre that would appeal to a targeted audience.

“It’s a drama with a genre-specific feel to the extent that people who don’t like this genre might like or eventually dislike it. I decided to participate in this workd because I don’t know if I would be given a chance to do it again.”

Responding to what convinced her to take the project, Jung Eun Ji replied that her curiosity about Jo Eun-gi spurred the decision.

“I was impressed with the subtitle, ‘You never saw it.’ I was curious about how Jo Eun-gi lived and how she would find justice.”

Deftly Limned Characters

In Blind, Ok Taecyeon and Ha Seok Jin portray the roles of Sung-jun, a passionate detective; and Sung-hun, a perfectionist judge, respectively.

Describing his character, Taecyeon relays how Sung-jun is quite different from usual detectives.

“A normal detective follows the clues of the case, but he is caught in the case itself. I think the way he changes and grows is also different from other detective characters.”

He continued, “I did a lot of action through this drama. I got hit and rolled a lot, but the director liked it. I think Blind will show a different action from the existing ones.”

Interestingly shedding light on his role, Ha Seok Jin revealed the enigma that Sung-hun carries.

“After reading a lot of scripts, I thought about what kind of conviction this character would have to act like this.”

Regarding the viewing point, he insightfully comments how Blind challenges the perception of what is good and bad and how to define the perpetrators and victims.

Starkly different from her role in Work Later Drink Now, Jung Eun Ji comments on how her latest character does not hesitate to fight for her definition of justice.

Correspondingly, host Park Seul-gi remarks how Jung looked like the most likely culprit in the poster to which the actress agreed.

“I think I look like the most villain. There was a moment when I wondered if I was the culprit.”

Fun Filming Experience

Confessing that he felt alienated while shooting; Ha Seok Jin adorably acknowledged not being able to dance and sing the same way as his idol co-stars.

To that, Director Shin cutely quipped how he was not a fan of singing and dancing while filming.

“I was the only one who didn’t like it. I had to concentrate, but it was noisy.”

Conveying the charm of their latest project, the lead stars expressed what to expect in Blind.

“It’s like a mystery novel. I think you will enjoy watching it in a very enjoyable and entertaining way.” – Ok Taecyeon

“If you draw conclusions, it might bite you back. Please focus on the unexpected flow.” – Ha Seok Jin

“If you follow the gaze of the actors, there will be plenty of theories to create.” – Jung Eun Ji
