Xiaoyou tug-of-war is settling well and viewers of Count Your Lucky Stars are getting the best of both worlds from Xingcheng and Yanzhi!
Count Your Lucky Stars has already assumed the role of my weekly rejuvenating pill since picking it up last week.
As I previously noted, the fast-paced narrative of this Shen Yue starrer easily amuses. Jerry Yan and Wei Zhe Ming are sweet layers of icing on the cake.

“Better to say I was going to suicide than we’ve spent a night here.”
Xingcheng and Xiaoyou wake up to the sound of the phone ringing unaware that a picture of them in each other’s embrace has been circulating in CHIC’s grapevine thanks to the building cleaner.
Quick to mislead the people to their situation, Xiaoyou make a stunt pretending she’s trying to commit suicide as Xingcheng picks up on her lead.
Pretending to rescue her, the onlookers are shooed away. Throwing his necklace at his junior assistant, Xingcheng sternly warns her of not losing it again and orders her to untangle it.

“Do you remember what happened last night?”
Walking side by side, Xingcheng asks Xiaoyou if she remembered what happened last night. Knowing the right word to say, she denies remembering the kiss that just passed on her thoughts.
Quickly meeting Yanzhi, she worries that he will be sighted with her in the company premise. Whining about her mercurial boss, Yanzhi goes down to his business of poaching Xiaoyou to work in his company.
When Xiaoyou asked why he’s interested to someone like her with no big experience yet, Yanzhi responds that he sees the potential that she does not realize herself. He also admires her enthusiasm for designing.
Xiaoyou raises another question if he designed Niki for his mom. However, before he could reply, Xiaoyou’s friend called her about the viral photo.
Back at the office, Xingcheng is on a bad mood, and it turns in a full blown rage when renowned designer Lu Ren criticized CHIC magazine.

“Mr. Lu said that this necklace is more important than my life.”
Xiaoyou meets her friend Lu Lu and tells her strange predicament and the amazing job offer. Yanzhi also arrives to get some things he left when he did the necklace in the restaurant.
Noticing Xiayou’s worried look on the necklace she’s disentangling, she mutters how she does not know which one belonged to Xingcheng and too scared to ask him about it.
Yanzhi swiftly solves her problem and recognizes the one he made.
While luck begins to bloom on previously bad luck magnet, her boss Xincheng strangely encounters series of unfortunate events.

“You look like a stubborn rich kid, when in fact you’re a sensible man with artistic side to boot.”
Coming to work the next day, Xingcheng and Xiaoyou are oblivious wearing matching clothing. Walking side by side, he learns of her move to Yanzhi’s company. He smirks and mutters not caring about whether she is fired or resigned, but she’s definitely going to stay and work with him.
Entering his room, Wen Xi is already there to greet her with some fruits. Clearly drawing the personal line not to be crossed, he tells the model to stop wasting her time on him. But she responds that she’s in charge of where she wants to use her time.
At Yanzhi’s office, Xiaoyou marvels at the quaintly designed office. Noticing a box which Yanzhi explained to be his first handcraft, she tells her good impression about him.
When he offers to give a tour of where her station will be, Xiaoyou declines as she wants to completely finish her resignation first.
Getting a visit from the deputy editor, she nags Xingcheng about the pressing problems brought about by Xiaoyou’s mistake. He dismisses her promising he is on it.

“You’re going nowhere without my permission.”
Xingcheng spots Xiaoyou and Yanzhi in front of the office building and drags her back to his office. Moving to the damage control for the problems in CHIC, he orders her task and orders her to work from home.
Strangely, his phone which keeps on not working gets revived when Xiaoyou held it.
Sighing at the task ahead of her, Xiaoyou complains to her friend of her woes that CHIC might not be able to pull off an exhibit that is badly needed to recover its reputation.
She mumbles how CHIC is not letting her go easily without resolving the fiasco she created. Based on her words, Ru Ru finds it odd and thinks her boss has a thing on her.
While working, Xiaoyou receives a weird call from a media reporter claiming he has information of Xingcheng murdering people. Immediately relaying the weird call to Daly who pass it on to their boss.
Wasting no time, he meets the reporter who are demanding money for his knowledge of a traffic accident involving Xingcheng. But the cold-hearted editor dismisses his taunt reminding him of a family he has to feed and not to write something that is not verified.

“I’m cocky because I’ve got something useful.”
The next day, Xiaoyou is in good spirit presenting the evidences she has gained that will protect her boss from the bad reporter. Turns out that she secretly installed voice recorder and camera when Xingcheng met up with her boss.
Proudly claiming her merit, her boss reminds her not to be cocky, but she quips that she has something to be proud of.
Putting her back to earth, he asks about the status of the exhibit. Nervously showing her plan, Xingcheng takes a look on it and rants about what she needs to improve.
He tells her not to rely much on her skills and inspirations, but mix in extra effort to make something that will leave a mark.
Happy for hearing her boss’ constructive criticism, she thanks him for the advices. Just then, his usual self emerges and tells her to go away. He adds how he just don’t want to be surrounded by losers hence he tried to help her.

Problems keep on piling for Xingcheng who is still being threatened by the reporter. Meanwhile, Xiaoyou is being pressed by the Deputy Editor to contact the revered Lu Ren for an interview.
She tries to work on it by calling Mr. Lu’s wife, but she got a resounding no to the request. Feeling dejected she goes on for some sweets when she was approached by an artist known to take advantage of women.
But before he can do something bad, Xiaoyou’s low sugar problem acted up and she fainted. Xingcheng fortunately arrives in time and gets his emergency candy box to aid his assistant. He calls Daly to take care of her, but Daly endorsed her on to Yanzhi who was worried about her passing out.

When Xiaoyou wakes up to see Yanzhi, they head out to grab some food. Meanwhile, Xingcheng learns Daly had left Xiaoyou to Yanzhi.
Not happy about it, he orders Daly to clean the hall. But just as he was about to move, a news broke out involving Xingcheng.
The viral report reveals how he is involved in an unsettled traffic accident 10 years ago killing a person and injuring several people. Flashes of his memory come rushing back to Xingcheng showing his young wounded self sitting beside a wounded woman inside the car.
At the same moment, Xiaoyou and Yanzhi hear the same news shocking Xiaoyou who fumbled while driving. As the world is so small in Count Your Lucky Stars, she bumps on a human, who turns out to be her boss.

Episode 3 Musings
At the right and left corners of Xiaoyou are heaven and bliss. Yes, gone are the days that she is unlucky. I suppose the upcoming episode traces to the opening frames of Count Your Lucky Stars.
With the female lead convinced his used-to-be-luck-magnet-boss switched places to her unlucky place, will she compromise by becoming a shield to bad lucks that would come on Xingcheng’s way.
I am already tasting the faint shower of rom-com vibe that would soon befall when the boys go full throttle in claiming Xiaoyou’s heart. I would be a willing audience to bask on it.
Zesty and witty, this series has strong tendencies to feel like a passing drama owing to its hurried trajectory. Thus, I’m quite amazed on how jampacked the story each chapter.
More than that, it has so far smartly stripped the unnecessary frames to give way to the flow of story without sacrificing the fluidity of narrative..
