You Complete Me Episode 1 Recap

“You can have a Plan B, but I only want my first choice.”

En route to an important interview, financial analyst Gao Shan (Hu Yitian) missed the appointed time.

He bumps with Lin Wo (Bridgette Qiao Xin) whose best friend took the job he was eyeing for. She is also the girlfriend of Tang Yaofeng, the headhunter assisting him to acquire a job at Most Sky Investment.

Misunderstanding arises when Gao Shan figured that Lin Wo paved the way for him to be behind the interview schedule. She interestingly competed with her boyfriend Yaofeng and secured her best friend to get the job.

Her firm denial became useless when she confirmed with her colleague Dingle – indeed helped Gao Shan became late. Not a fan of underhanded means, she volunteers to help secure a shot to work at Most Sky.

Gao Shan whose attention was piqued by Lin Wo, demands shifting from her boyfriend’s care to hers. He also confirmed his deduction of Yaofeng’s unfaithfulness to no other than their mutual boss.

Fortunately, Gao Shan gets another chance to enter Most Sky Investments. The catch? Find the whereabouts of Managing Director Wan Jiahe.

“The best way to know someone is to fall for him.”

Lin-wo secures the mission given to Gao Shan and was offered an assistant role since there’s no opening for a higher position. Whining why he opted for a job when he can go for more prominent positions, Gao Shan responds that he does not need her planning his life.

Curious why she did not tell Yaofeng the real reason for their newly-established client-headhunter connection, he pointed out the shallowness of their relationship. Faintly pushing himself for a connection which she bluntly wards off, he finds it hard to bring up that Yaofeng is fooling her.

When he listened to her reason leaving both her pairs of shoes when one got stuck, Gao Shan can’t help but expressed that she is so interesting.

Arriving at the apartment, Lin-wo greets her friend Wu Dongna/Nana/Alisa (Tiffany Zhong Qi) who is also an investment specialist. They chat about Gao Shan who is also Nana’s acquaintance and subject of her love pursuit since college.

From there, they also discuss her boring relationship with Yaofeng. Nana had it all planned and presents a mean red shoes for her to wear on her scheduled Friday date with her boyfriend.

Back at Gao Shan’s place, he is seen monitoring Director Wan from afar. Receiving a call from his friend who whines about not catching up with him. He reminds him to start anew now that he’s back and forget everything that happened in the past.

Revealing a wall of cryptic newspaper clippings and pictures, Gao Shan thinks about what his friend just said, and refuses to accept his request to “forget”.

You Complete Me Episode 1 Musings

You can only imagine my busy watching plate, but there are stories that I keep dearly in my heart and You Complete Me is an offshoot of my being grateful to those series. From that devotion, I tend to support the actors who brought to life those favorite characters I found memorable.

I’ve been a fan of Hu Yitian since A Love So Beautiful. Hence, this commitment of recapping his new series happened. This drama is quite teeming with more technical industry knowledge about financial investment.

That in the scenes where Yitian burst jargons and all, I summoned all the love for him to endure. *wink But it is not daunting to say the least, since his suave delivery and overall upbeat tone of the series make up for it.

On the bright side, we are up to learn more about Chinese financial market through banking and investment poised to be elaborated in the series.

Premiere Episode Striking Points

Pictured to be a female lead who likes everything planned, Qiao Xin mixes an endearing feistiness and charm to her character. A fitting match to Hu Yitian’s calculating nature that does not disregard unexpected variables.

We also had a peek to the supporting leads with Tiffany Zhong Qi marking her presence as a female casanova who can charm even the bees. Sean Zheng Hao as Su Yuan also quickly introduced himself as the son of a rich household who will be interacting with Gao Shan a lot in their team under Manager Wan.

You Complete Me takes a quick pace which viewers will love. Hu Yitian and Qiao Xin’s on-screen chemistry is also palpable that it can’t be helped to look forward on how love will progress between them.

Quite engaging, you might find it difficult to part after each episode. Just like how I have finished all eight episodes available for premium subscription when I started watching it last night.

If you are looking for a zesty urban romance set drama, make sure to catch this series on WeTV!

Succeeding episode recaps will be posted before this week ends.
