Simon Gong and Elaine Zhong Take Audiences On A Journey of Revival and Mature Love In “Rising With The Wind”

Join Elaine Zhong and Simon Gong as they embark on a journey against the prevailing trends–you can expect a journey of exploration in their youth and how they bring about the revival and rise of a domestic brand in Rising With The Wind.

Rising with the Wind (我要逆风去) will be released on iQIYI today, October 30th, amidst much anticipation from the public. In today’s society where international luxury brands dominate trends, there are still young individuals who are dedicated to the revival of domestic brands and products.

Adapted from a novel with the same name, Rising with the Wind will not only star Simon Gong and Elaine Zhong but also a lineup of casts and crew to look forward to, including experienced and popular actors Wen Zhengrong (温峥嵘), Sarina (萨日娜), Betty Wu (吴宣仪) and more as well as producers, Wang Yixu (王一栩) and Zhang Yucheng (张宇成), who were behind the worldwide sensation Love Between Fairy and Devil (苍兰诀).

The story of an overbearing corporate elite and a destitute heiress might seem like a Mary Sue narrative, but it develops in an exceptionally heartwarming direction. Rising with the Wind has already gained attention even before its date announcement, attracting tens of millions of views for its trailers, with its MV hitting a grand total of 1.93 million views within a day of its release.

The intense scenes in the trailer and MV have also triggered discussions online, questioning if Rising with the Wind is a show meant for adults. This became a hot topic on Weibo, with posts having 15 million views within the span of a day.

The passionate embraces, intense entanglements and gazes have already made fans blush without even watching the full series. Not only so, but the transformation of Xu Si (starring Simon Gong) from ambiguity to direct pursuit in his relationship with Jiang Hu (starring Elaine Zhong) has also raised anticipation levels.

Accordingly, the trailer is filled with tantalizing moments and Simon Gong’s line “Little Butterfly, I really want to kiss you,” sparked a series of playful comments from fans, urging him to give Elaine Zhong a break and have them stand in for the kissing scenes instead. Nevertheless, the chemistry between the two continues to attract widespread support and adoration from the public.

Simon Gong and Elaine Zhong’s Undeniable Screen Chemistry

Despite the series being their first collaboration, their on-screen chemistry is impeccable and the development of their intimate relationship in the series is so well-executed, that one would find it hard to believe that they haven’t worked with each other before. The atmosphere is fully charged and their ambiguous and heart-fluttering moments have already helped them attract some fans of the onscreen couple.

Simon Gong’s portrayal of the elite Xu Si has truly resonated with the audience. While interpreting the characteristics of an elite, Xu Si exhibits a mix of both strength and vulnerability, which has led some fans to affectionately proclaim, “His looks look really perfect on him, I’m drooling over.”

However, Gong Jun’s emotional arc in this role goes beyond romantic love; it also beautifully captures the nuances of familial love that tug at the heartstrings. On the surface, Xu Si may appear as a towering dependable figure for everyone and someone who is used to taking charge. But at the same time, when in the presence of his mother, he sheds this exterior, revealing a more vulnerable side. He can feel hurt, will want to seek comfort, will light up with joy when complimented, and displays a gentle, harmless softness.

In addition to the intriguing plot and the talented lead actors, the cast and production team have also added a sense of excitement to this stellar production. The addition of seasoned actors like Wen Zhengrong, Liu Peiqi (刘佩琦), Morni Chang (张晨光) and Sarina adds depth to the series. Their extensive experience in the industry has allowed them to perfectly portray their roles and deliver flawless performances.

Popular actor-singer Betty Wu will also be playing Xiang Chaoyang, a character who has her life dictated and manipulated by her overbearing mother, leaving her with a sense of helplessness and a feeling of loss. Furthermore, the series is also produced by Wang Yixu and Zhang Yucheng, the masterminds behind the worldwide sensation Love Between Fairy and Devil, hence a top-tier production is highly anticipated.

As the investment genius Xu Si (starring Simon Gong 龚俊) returns back to home from Hong Kong, he befriends the local brand company founder’s only daughter, Jiang Hu (starring Elaine Zhong 钟楚曦) but the two find themselves at loggerheads due to differing opinions when it comes to business operations.

When the family business goes bankrupt, Jiang Hu watches helplessly as her life crumbles overnight. The ever-ambitious Xu Si makes it his goal to conquer the rubber shoe brand, Teng Yue, which was founded by Jiang Hu’s father, who when challenged, also tries her best to protect this brand left behind by her father.

As the two go in circles trying to fight it out, they eventually make a life-and-death pact to revive Teng Yue.

Rising with the Wind will be available exclusively on iQIYI (iq.com and APP) from October 30.
