K-Drama Review: “Weak Hero” Left The Viewers In Awe For Its Unforeseeable Plot Twist
This eight-episode high school thriller series captured a lot of attention with its superb cast, compelling portrayals, and high-powered scenes. But apart from the things that we love about it, Weak Hero also brims with valuable life lessons. Thus, we’ve listed down the eight lessons we gained from the drama.
1. Be yourself.
Have you encountered the quote, “You’re so busy doubting yourself while others are intimidated by your potential”? Oftentimes, we tend to focus more on our imperfections.
Like Suho (Choi Hyun Wook), may we always live with confidence. We are all unique in our own ways.
2. Take your time to know yourself.
There are moments when we feel lost as if we can’t recognize who we are anymore. We should try to get to know ourselves on a deeper level. Start by writing in a journal, taking yourself out on a date, or doing arts and crafts. In this way, we get to hear our inner voices well and understand ourselves better.
3. Surround yourself with good people.
We have the freedom to choose the people who will enter our lives. When we surround ourselves with good people, they motivate us to become the best version of ourselves.
The trio influenced Young-i (Lee Yeon) to get out of their chaotic world. Along with this, she was able to encourage Seok Dae (Shin Seung Ho) to change for the better.
4. Take a break.
Sometimes, we are so focused on academics that we forget to live our life. We should also go out with friends and let our minds rest from time to time.
5. It’s okay to ask for professional help.
In life, we experienced things that negatively changed our lives. Beom Seok (Hong Kyung) taught us that it’s okay to ask for professional help when you can’t handle things anymore. It won’t make you less of a person.
6. Stand up for what is right.
There are circumstances wherein we are torn between keeping a blind eye or being firm about our principles. Like Si Eun (Park Ji Hoon), I hope we always do the latter.
7. Be present.
On the days when we feel like we couldn’t do it anymore, we should have at least one person who will validate our feelings.
Si Eun’s parents were always busy with work. They don’t have time to ask Si Eun what was going on with his life. But when Si Eun (Park Ji Hoon) transferred schools, his parents went with him. His mom even wants to go with him and say “Hi” to his homeroom teacher. His dad even acknowledged him and said he didn’t do anything wrong.
8. Learn how to communicate.
Sometimes, we conclude things in our heads without asking for answers. Our head gets crowded with negative thoughts that lead to miscommunication.
Si Eun, Suho, and Beom Seok’s friendship taught us that we should try to learn how to communicate with other people as much as possible. Thus, we can establish healthy relationships with other people.
