Police University officially begins its classes brimming with intense energy, dreams, leadership, and chemistry.
KBS2’s Police University made us cry, laugh, and energized in its first two episodes. Jung Jin Young and Jung Soo Jung‘s meeting also made a lasting and “impactful” impression.
Furthermore, Jin Young’s first step towards his newfound dream becomes threatened when he entangles with his “enemy” in the university.
Police University follows the story of Kang Sun Ho (Jung Jin Young) on a mission to find and reach his dreams. His “meaningless” life found purpose because of his adopted father’s love and Oh Kang Hee’s (Jung Soo Jung) contagious passion.
As he found a new purpose in life, he used his hacking skills to steal money for his father’s surgery. He then struggles on his first day when his professor turns out to be the detective who caught his crimes.

“Things you want to do, places you want to go, dreams you want to realize. Don’t you have things like that?”
Kang Sun Ho grew miserably after his parents died. Nevertheless, his father’s friend took him in and helped him to grow as a good person.
Even though he has a new family, he can’t seem to be open to them and tries to distance himself often. He grew up with his best friend and brother, Yoon Seung Bum.

With their different personalities, Yoon Seung Bum shows his passion for judo since he was a kid. On the other hand, Sun Ho spends his time on electronic devices but struggles with searching for his desires.
Despite their differences, their father equally loves and is proud of them. When his father knew that Sun Ho found his passion in life, he shows his support with simple actions.
“And I’m going to do what I want at this moment without any regrets.”
In the first episode, Sun Ho helped Seung Bum to confess with his hacking skills. At that time, he heard Oh Kang Hee argue with his coach because of her injury.

Kang Hee’s passionate words caught Sun Ho’s attention and encouraged him on finding his own dreams. Instead of focusing the camera on Seung Bum’s crush, he fell in love at first with Kang Hee, causing him to create a commotion.
On their first meeting, Sun Ho is totally whipped with Kang Hee’s charisma when she throws him into the stadium.
After he met her, he becomes curious about how dreams influence one’s life. He then also applied at the same university as her and goals to become a police officer.
“You also need to be worthy of a second chance.”
Kang Sun Ho and Detective Yoo Dong Man (Cha Tae Hyun) entangle for the second time when Dong Man hits Sun Ho’s father’s van.
With that, the doctors found out that his father has cancer. Together with his brother, they used Sun Ho’s hacking skills to steal money.
For the third time, Sun Ho and Dong Man met as a criminal and detective. The reckless yet passionate detective gave the two another chance but also warned them.

Again, Sun Ho and Dong Man are surprised to see each other at the university. Because of that, they become enemies, and Dong Man is keen to make Sun Ho suffer and quit.
Nevertheless, Kang Sun Ho is inspired by the perseverance and leadership of others. He tries to prove himself and became a reliable team leader despite the new environment.
Police University Opening Week Musings
The opening week of Police University made a comical and emotional beginning. So far, Kang Sun Ho’s story gave everyone faith in those who are uncertain of their future.
Each character also showed their personalities, and I am excited to know their stories. With our current virtual setting, the series takes us back to our normal routine at school.
Furthermore, Police University serves a refreshing and deeper story of a brotherly and fatherly relationship. Korean series often pair the lead character to their mother.
With Kang Sung Ho’s relationship with his father, it gave unique emotions that touched our hearts.
So far, I’m excited about how Kang Sun Ho and Yoo Dong Man’s bickering relationship creates fondness between them. In addition, I hope the story gives strength to its viewers amidst the pandemic we are facing.
