Heralding a new taste of travel entertainment show, NANA Tour with SEVENTEEN foresees a familiar but unfamiliar combination set to deliver happiness to viewers.
NANA Tour with SEVENTEEN features a phenomenal K-Pop group, SEVENTEEN and is set to premiere on January 10. The members were sent on a trip without any plans or preparations. With Na PD as the guide, this tour will be a chaotic adventure filled with travels and games that will hook the viewers.
On January 3, a production presentation for tvN’s new entertainment program was held. Producer Na Young-suk and Seventeen (S.Coups, Joshua, Jun, Hoshi, Wonwoo, Woozi, The8, Mingyu, DK, Seungkwan, Vernon, Dino) attended and introduced the program.
Producer Na Young-suk explains his creative process for the show.
“Even though I was selected, I wondered if there was a need to host this program. The reason I decided was because the so-called K-pop idol market has become global and countless fans are watching. However, people who do not listen to K-pop or watch Seventeen There are people who don’t know. There is a temperature difference with Seventeen fans. That’s where I said, ‘I want to take on the challenge.‘”
NA PD vouches that the talent of SEVENTEEN extends not only to music but to entertainment.
“K-pop singers are great and talented and are reaching out to the world and are achieving results, but as an entertainer, I need to show it to the public. If someone has to take a K-pop idol on a trip, who should do it? There are only a few teams. The best is Seventeen.”
He also said, “I don’t want to make a program that only fans can watch. There is a TV version and a Weverse version, but the barrier to entry is not high. There is no barrier to entry when Woozi takes off his clothes and works out happily. Through those points, Seventeen fans and regular variety show fans can go to the full version and love the show more deeply.”
This is not the first time NA PD and Seventeen have met. It was planned when Seventeen member Dokyeom drew a note saying ‘Appear on Seventeen’s ‘Flower Youth” in the web entertainment show Fifteen Nights on a Business Trip – Seventeen, which was released in May of this year.
Producer Na Young-suk smiled and said, “If I could turn back time, I would like to edit it.” He added, “It was broadcast, and what I said to really prepare for has come to this point. I am proud and touched.”
Minimizing information as the secret to maintaining confidentiality NA PD struggled with it.
“It wasn’t easy. It’s a large company and there are a lot of people. It’s not easy to deceive HYBE and Pledis. I was really surprised at the site that day. Only 2 or 3 people in the company came.”
The members started their trip without knowing anything about the NANA Tour and went to Italy for 7 days and 6 nights.
Hoshi said, “I had no expectations. The schedule for the year was full. After the concert, we were hanging out in our hotel room. I was surprised when I saw NA PD and thought, ‘Next week’s schedule was fake.’ I really didn’t know.“
On the other hand, The8 remained silent, saying, “I had high expectations. Although Jun and I will become victims.” Seungkwan echoes the same, “The two became sacrificial lambs for Nana Tour.”
Dino makes a sweet confession of the meaning of the trip.
“I drank a lot because I was thinking about going back to Korea after the last concert. I almost exceeded my drinking limit. As soon as I saw NA PD’s face, I sobered up. I was very excited in that short moment. It was a trip with the members. That itself had great meaning.“
Producer Na Young-seok ordered the Seventeen members to “enjoy the moment because you don’t know when it will come back.” At the same time, he laughed, “The members ran endlessly. Suddenly, things like Woozi learning how to drink happened.”
Regarding the incident of missing a passport on the first day of the trip, Mingyu said, “I lost my passport from the first day. I looked for my passport and my fans helped me until just before boarding time. In the end, I couldn’t find it. A member took my passport and boarded the plane. That member was there. I bought my own plane ticket. I was so embarrassed, but after many twists and turns, I was able to board the plane. Fans also shared it with producer Na Young-seok, so I think a sense of desperation must have come out,” he said about the episode.
Seungkwan, who attracted attention with his mukbang preview in ‘Nana Tour’ relays his story.
“As soon as the ‘Nana Tour’ schedule was over, I started filming ‘God of Music’ in Budapest. As soon as I finished filming ‘Nana Tour’, I thought, ‘What should I do?’. The music video was released after extreme management. It was a filming job, and filming a travel program was a big risk. Italy is a food with a lot of carbohydrates. I managed it by eating pasta and moving around,” he said. “I’m thankful that eating it has become a hot topic. I’ll always eat it well.”
This trip had a positive impact on the Seventeen members. SEVENTEEN’s Woozi, who is known as a ‘homebody’, said, “When I left for the Nana Tour, I felt at ease by leaving without any luggage and away from the members. I wondered if I was cherishing this moment, but it was a good starting point. After returning, I had a drink with the members. I started eating often. One of the four things I didn’t do was drink. I think I should give that up.”
Producer Na Young-suk expressed his affection for the members’ efforts.
“I think each of them showed their true selves well. Everyone’s individuality shines. I’m sorry to the fans because I was the only one showing off my strengths. They’re friends I can’t help but love.”
Dino said, “It was one of my dreams to go on a trip with 13 people. Going on an overseas trip, there were 12 of us, but it was a dream-like moment for me to make memories, see good scenery, and take pictures. The stars in the Italian night sky were beautiful. The members and I talked a lot. This moment of dreaming feels like youth,” he said, referring to this trip.
Team Seventeen members were asked the question, ‘If Nana Tour were to hold a season system, would you recommend the next K-pop team?’ and gave an entertaining answer.
Seungkwan made people laugh by saying, “This is an opportunity we had a hard time getting. We got this opportunity because we were good, but if you ask us to recommend another team for Season 2, there are not many options.”
He continued, “It seems like the powerful feel left room for with. Producer Na Young-seok talked about K-pop, but the K-pop team should directly appeal and make a mark. There is no idol like us.”
S.Coups said, “I can’t think of any. I think we’ll have to go with 13 people.”
When asked about the possibility of a second season, NA PD left open the possibility, saying, “If Seventeen opens the door well and the viewers love it, we can go for another season.”
