“Agency” Draws Anticipation To Lee Bo Young’s First Strong Character

Transforming into a competitive character focused to rise to the top of her career, Lee Bo Young returns to the small screen to decorate a confident female executive in Agency.

Adding another interesting character to her acting portfolio, the actress spearheads SBS 2023 campaign as one of the opening dramas next year.

Agency is a workplace drama directed by Lee Chang Min. The story follows Go Ah In (Lee Bo Young)’s career path as she climbs to the highest position in an advertising agency. She came from a poor family and didn’t graduate from a prestigious university.

However, her background didn’t stop her eagerness for success. Her colleagues view her as a person who only cares about achievement and money.

Through her dedication, she strives to become the first female lead executive at a major advertising agency.

Jo Sung Ha, Son Na Eun (Kang Han Na), Jeon Hye Jin and Han Jun Woo will also be part of the drama.

As can be seen from the copy of the character poster released earlier, the text saying “why do you decide my limits?” reveals the unfairness she had to suffer as an orphan. Living with her aunt who despised her school achievements because her daughter can’t compare to Ah-in, she was forced to study at a provincial university to get a full scholarship.

A Strong Character For Lee Bo Young

Suiting up to the role of an orphan, Lee Bo Young brought life to a driven character who had nothing but herself to believe in and rely on since she was born. As such, she motivated herself to better herself by perfecting various skills.

In describing her character, Lee Bo Young was energized by the colors of Ah-in.

“The tenacity she has endured more than others seems to be her special ability. And it influenced her choice of work. It was my first time acting a strong character, so I paid more attention. When I read the script, I went through different versions of acting I wanted to try in the scenes. It was that much fun.”

Revealing the charms of Go Ah-in, the actress added:

“I can say that she is a tsundere style these days. She doesn’t openly show off his teammates, such as Lee Chang-hoon (Han Byung-soo), the right-hand man of Go Ah-in, who has been working with him for a long time, and Jeon Hye-jin (Cho Eun-jung), a copywriter he personally scouted, but trusts them more than anyone else. She appreciates and secretly praises them. She is also a wonderful boss who avenges if someone touches her person.”

Conveying a different kind of underdog story, Lee Bo Young remarked how she prefers to act in roles that she can’t do in real life. It fuels her craft as an artist.

Tipping viewers on what to expect in the series, she said, “If you focus on how Ah-in lived and survived, you will be able to experience the joy and fun of success together.”

JTBC’s new Saturday drama Agency starring Lee Bo Young will premiere on January 7, following the slot to be vacated by Reborn Rich.
