Delineated with admiration, Lee Se Young graciously addresses the cast’s camaraderie and feelings towards The Red Sleeve.

Beautifully embodied as the fearless court maid, Sung Deok-im, Lee Se Young embraced a role that drew viewers into her work. Likewise, the actress starred in a role that garnered a 15% audience rating on MBC’s The Red Sleeve.

When asked how she felt about the series finale, Lee Se Young asserted that she was glad since she had received warm messages of affection from the audience.

With a 17.4% viewership (Nielsen Korea) for the penultimate episode, the actress expresses her gratitude to The Red Sleeve fans.

Apparently, she couldn’t believe the series was that successful while she was traveling.

“I filmed while traveling around various areas, and the elderly were watching The Red Sleeve. When they went to eat, they watched the drama, and they even knew the names of the characters in the play, so they watched it a lot. Even though I know it numerically, I can’t really feel it, but I got a lot of calls from my acquaintances, and seeing the articles, I realized that it’s popular.”

On The Talk About Lee Se Young’s Formidable Chemistry With The Red Sleeve

Commending her reliable male lead partner, the actress exemplifies her appreciation for Lee Jun Ho. She consequently adds that the more Lee Jun Ho loves others, the more love he receives.

“Thank you to Lee Jun Ho, who digested more than that as a cool and attractive person. You just have to do your job well, but if you like people, there is no sense of distance, and if you are friendly, the synergy will come out. It seems to double. He was an older brother than me, so he was very considerate, and he was an actor I trusted because he had acted well before.”

Moreover, Lee Se Young believes that being named the Queen of historical drama is an exaggeration since she will feel a little burdened for her next historical drama work.

For the synchronization rate between her and Sung Deok-im, the actress asserts the similarities between the two.

I think the synchronization rate with Deok-im, who is bright and cheerful in the beginning, is about 95%. It is similar to wanting to live a long and thin life and longing for freedom. Even in the Joseon Dynasty, Deok-im, who wants to live by choosing her own life, is similar. I learned a lot by watching her. I thought that I should live my life more independently. Compared to Deok-im, I have a lot of options, but I don’t think I ever lived without being grateful.

Regarding her preferred dramas, Lee Se Young admits that she most likely prefers modern to historical. However, she works harder to demonstrate her outstanding work for the drama since she has senior actors assisting her and she feels valued as an actress.

Sharing Her Deeply Resonated Thoughts For The Series’ Finale

Filled with despondent feelings for the finale episode, Lee tears up at the reality of the two protagonists breaking up and reuniting in a dream.

“The same narration appears in the original work, but seeing that part gave me a headache. The tears didn’t stop. It’s a reality that the two break up and meet in a dream, but never come back. Still, it was nice to see a reunion through the ending. Acting It was so sad that the tears did not stop.”

Uncertain as to whether Deok-im was truly in love with Lee San, Lee Se Young believes that her character made every effort to prove her affection for the King.

“I didn’t want to express the fact that the court lady didn’t love the king. It wasn’t clear, but Deok-im was in love with Lee San. However, it was pushed out because of certain realistic aspects. In fact, no one would have wondered about the court lady’s heart. It seems that she tried her best to show it better because it was a love story for a low-key woman at that time.”

Additionally, Lee anticipated that the romance between Lee San and Deok-im would surface in episodes 13 or 14. But, owing to time constraints, this could not be accomplished before the tragic narrative began.

As I tried to deal with the tragic story briefly, the sweetness decreased. I think it was done to show the process of climbing a little better and to deal with the agony of being a king.”

Lee Se Young’s Goal For 2022

Desiring to be a competent actor, the actress conveys that she wanted to be accountable for more than just paying for her meals.

By living a decent life and continuing to do so in the new year, Lee Se Young will seek to progress into a great actor.

“I’m trying to live my life while pondering the happiness of my daily life in 2022. That’s my small but precious New Year’s goal.”
