Astounding viewers with his new role in the drama Island, Cha Eun Woo plays a unique character as an exorcist.
Slated for a December premiere, Island traverses the journey of the characters who are destined to fight against the “evil” that is trying to destroy the world.
The series is based on the webtoon of the same name by writers Yoon In-wan and Yang Kyung-il. Notably, the fantasy-action to be highlighted in the drama is set to unfold in the background of Jeju Island, which brims with folk tales.
ASTRO’s Cha Eun Woo takes on the role of John, an exorcist on Earth who was adopted overseas as soon as he was born. He is described as “the one who exercises the power of God.” Called Priest John, he receives God’s calling and becomes the youngest exorcist.
One day, when he was dispatched to Jeju Island, he faces the ‘day‘ revealed in the prophetic book and gets entangled in a whirlwind of fate.
Ahead of its highly-awaited premiere, the production team of Island unveiled character stills of Cha Eun Woo.
Sparking the interest of the viewers, he is staring somewhere with a meaningful look as if waiting for someone.
Looking straight out of a webtoon, Cha Eun Woo wears a priest gown that perfectly harmonizes with his character. He is in a space full of holy energy and is preparing for a ceremony by lighting a candle while wearing headphones.
In another photo, Cha Eun Woo presents his warm visuals as he dons a casual look instead of his priest uniform.
Sharing the actor’s seamless portrayal of his unique role, the drama’s production team stated,
“Cha Eun Woo surprised the staff at the scene by freely expressing the character of John as filming continued. Island will be filled with Cha Eun Woo’s new charms that have not been seen anywhere so far, so please look forward to it.”
TVING’s original series Island will be released on December 30. Meanwhile, international fans can watch it on Amazon Prime Video.
