Hard work and commitment to her characters led to impressive feats for Lee Hyeri who has been solidifying her status as a trending actress.
The actress worked on the historical drama Moonshine over at KBS camp early 2022 and also top-billed modern healing series May I Help You which aired on MBC.
In both the roles she portrayed, Lee Hyeri was recognized for her superb characterization. Bagging the Excellence Award for an Actress in a Mini-series at the 2022 MBC Drama Awards, she followed it up with another Excellence Award win for a Mini-series at the 2022 KBS Drama Awards.
Notably, Hyeri brought to life two distinctly different characters in contrasting genres.
In Moonshine, she played the role of street-smart Ro-seo who defied the typical K-Drama female lead stereotype of being damsels-in-distress. Decorating a dazzling moonshiner, she braves life at the time when the alcohol ban was imposed in Joseon.
Then, in May I Help You which recently wrapped up on MBC, she transformed into a funeral director who grants the wishes of the deceased or the deceased loved ones.
In both characters, the Reply 1988 well-loved female lead was phenomenal.
Conveying her thoughts when she accepted her award for Moonshine, Hyeri shared the honor with the diligent staff of the series. She also confessed to missing her fellow actors and the production team when she saw Kang Mina and Byeon Woo Seok.
“It’s been 10 years since I started acting. There are still many things I lack and there are many ways to go further, but I will always research fiercely, always worry, and try to become an actor who can show a good image.”
Currently, Lee Hyeri is preparing to launch her new entertainment program scheduled to air in 2023. She plans to meet the public by expanding her field of activity besides drama.
