“My Dearest” Acquaints Viewers With Characters of Lee Hak Joo and Lee Da In

MBC’s eagerly awaited historical series shares more details about the second pair in the story.

Lovers depicts the romance of a lover in the backdrop of Qing invasion of Joseon. It follows stories of the people who cultivated hope in times of hardship.

The drama reunites Namgoong Min with Director Kim Sung Yong with whom he worked in the series The Veil. Penning the script is writer Hwang Jin Young who wrote Rebel: The Thief Who Stole The People and The King’s Daughter, Soo Baek-hyang.

Namgoong Min (One Dollar Lawyer, Doctor Prisoner) portrays Lee Jang-hyun as a complex character with a natural playfulness. But inside, he has darkness not revealed to anyone.

Playing the female lead Yu Gil-chae is Ahn Eun Jin (The One and Only, Hospital Playlist). Gil-chae is a well-mannered lady from a prestigious family. She is a snobbish and arrogant person who believes that she is the center of the world and that she is God’s gift to men. But she gradually matured as she experienced the suffering of war and came to truly fall in love with a man.

Next, Lee Hak Joo (My Name, Sweet Munchies) characterizes Nam Yeon-jun, a promising Confucian student studying at Sungkyunkwan. He is a person who considers walking the path of a gentleman more important than his life. Thus, his sincere loyalty to the king and his love for the people pushed him to join the war without hesitation.

Lastly, Lee Da In (Hwarang, Alice) takes on the role of Kyung Eun-ae, Yeon-jun’s fiancee and Gil-chae’s closest friend. She is a wise and benevolent woman who knows how to see the bright side of her world first. Despite going through many ups and downs, she maintains her love for Yeon-jun and her faith in life.

Lovers’ Second Lead Pairing

Following the character stills of the lead pairing, Lovers subsequently rolls out more details on the characters of Lee Hak Joo and Lee Da In along with their character photos.

The teaser photos released for Lee Hak Joo as Nam Yeon-jun embodies his loyalty to the world and that he’s willing to jump into the war without hesitation.

Wearing a neat hanbok, he exudes the attitude of being poor and upright. Without missing a single detail in the right posture, unwavering eyes, and expression; Lee Hak Joo presents the gentleness and fortitude of his character.

The production team relays Nam Yeon-jun challenges numerous dramatic situations and takes pride in how the actor did an on-point character analysis.

Meanwhile, in the filming stills released on July 13, Eun-ae is staring somewhere with deep eyes and affectionate longing. Raising admiration, she gracefully dons a hanbok showing off her radiant skin and innocent charm.

Elaborating Eun-ae’s character, the production team shared Lee Da In captured Eun-ae’s softness and strength. Her acting skills have deepened and her presence fits well to historical dramas.

MBC’s new Friday-Saturday drama Lovers will be broadcast for the first time at 9:50 pm on Friday, August 4, 2023.
