A mesmerizing world of ghosts and spirits is set to debut on Netflix with East Palace (working title).
Written by Kwon So-ra and Seo Jae-won, the creative duo behind Bulgasal: Immortal Souls, and directed by Choi Jung-kyu of The Devil Judge, this supernatural drama promises an electrifying tale brought to life by an extraordinary cast.
Nam Joo-hyuk (Twenty Five Twenty One, Start-Up, The School Nurse Files) leads as Gu-cheon, a man with the rare ability to traverse the ghostly realm and vanquish spirits with his sword. Tasked with investigating the eerie occurrences in a cursed palace, Gu-cheon uncovers a shadowy world far beyond anything he could imagine.
Joining him is Roh Yoon-seo (Crash Course in Romance, 20th Century Girl, Our Blues), playing Saeng-gang, a court lady born with the gift—or curse—of hearing ghosts. Once burdened by her ability, Saeng-gang now uses it to help Gu-cheon unravel the palace’s hidden truths, all while harboring a secret of her own.
Cho Seung-woo (Divorce Attorney Shin, Sisyphus, Life, Stranger) takes on the role of the King, a ruler who quietly enlists Gu-cheon and Saeng-gang to lift the curse haunting his palace. While his reign appears virtuous, the King’s complex personality hints at a darker side that adds intrigue to the story.
As Gu-cheon and Saeng-gang delve deeper into the mystery, what hidden truths and dangers will they uncover within the palace’s walls?
East Palace is already generating buzz as one of Netflix’s most anticipated releases. Stay tuned for this thrilling supernatural saga, streaming soon exclusively on Netflix.
