All the cast behind Payback has shown their appreciation for the successful drama trailers released prior to the launch of the series.

Slated to premiere this January 6, SBS’s new Friday-Saturday drama, Payback, is a thriller-mystery business drama directed by Lee Won Tae and written by Kim Won Seok. It stars Lee Sun Kyun (Diary Of A Prosecutor, My Mister), Moon Chae Won (Flower Of Evil), Kang Yoo Seok (Growing Season), Park Hoon (Remarriage and Desires), and Kim Hong Pa (The Fiery Priest).

Director Lee Won Tae, who helmed his first drama Payback, expressed his satisfaction with the finished product through the release of three teaser trailers and a five-minute highlight video:

“I tried to create aesthetically complete paintings in almost every scene, starting with the vast Mongolian location scene, as well as various fight scenes and car chase scenes.”

Meanwhile, Kim Won Seok, whose writing won fans worldwide, finally decided to write Payback after seven years of contemplation. Kim Won Seok provided further insight into his creative process hoping for a refreshing revenge story that would engross the viewers.

“I tried to develop it easily and at a fast pace, with the ambition to create a story that cannot be found in real life, and where the common-sense and just ‘our side’ wins, which we all want.”

The Payback Main Cast

Lee Sun Kyun’s portrayal of Eun-yong, CEO of a worldwide private equity firm, once again demonstrates the true value of an actor willing to believe in a wide range of performances that span the epic insular beginnings of a money dealer to the present day, when he dreams of magnificent revenge.

Then, Moon Chae Won, who returns to genre fare, communicates the complexities of Park Joon-kyung, a three-dimensional character who decides to become a monster in order to confront demons in the form of a righteous prosecutor, with sensible acting talent and aura.

Next, playing the role of Jang Tae-chun, a brash first-year prosecutor, Kang Yoo Seok drives the piece with intensity and charisma showing his acting experience.

Moreover, Park Hoon’s charismatic portrayal of the ruthlessly ambitious side captures the very essence of “genre-tailored” acting.

Payback’s Well-Known Actors

Additionally, one of the Payback’s biggest draws will be the collaboration and energy of the prominent performers who have played significant roles in each of these dramas.

On the other hand, Chairman Myung In-joo (Kim Hong Pa), the underground economic godfather who constructed a “cartel of greed,” and Yoon Hye-rin (Kim Mi Sook), the mother of Park Joon-kyung (Moon Chae Won), who plays a significant role in the development of events as a victim of a plot, are both featured in the drama.

Lastly, Chang-hyun, Myung’s trusted friend, is portrayed by Lee Ki Young, while Eun Ji-hee plays the sister of Eun-yong, and Kang Yoo Suk’s (Jang Tae-chun) mother, is portrayed by Seo Jung Yeon.

The outstanding actors of Kwan Rok, from Kim Hye Hwa in the role of Hong Hannah (who plays the best partner with Eun-yong) to Choi Deok-moon, the head of the Detective Department (who plays a combination with Jang Tae-chun), all shine in the masterpiece, perfectly satisfying the expectations of viewers who have been waiting for a new genre.

Payback will premiere Friday, January 6, 2023, at 10 p.m.
