“The Red Sleeve” Releases Breathtaking Poster Featuring Lee Jun Ho and Lee Se Young

The Red Sleeve

Lee Jun Ho and Lee Se Young are captured vaunting expressive faces in the main poster of MBC’s new drama, The Red Sleeve.

The series narrates a bittersweet historical court romance drama about a court lady who wants to protect the life she has chosen and a king who prioritizes the kingdom over her love. The title alludes to the red sleeves of the court ladies’ garments, which means the king’s woman.

It is an authentic romance historical drama that MBC will air for the first time in two years following the success of Rookie Historian Goo Hae Ryung in 2019. It is based on Kang Mi Gang’s bestselling novel of the same name.

Lee Jun Ho will portray the strict and perfectionist Crown Prince Lee San, while Lee Se Young will embody Seong Deok-im, a court lady who wishes to live her own life, not one of the king’s countless women. The two, who will later become King Jeongjo and Royal Consort Uibin Seong, plan to unfold a passionate and turbulent romance in the court where fierce and tense politics come and go.

In the revealed poster, the two are shown in close proximity while Lee Jun Ho holds the hand of Lee Se Young placed on his shoulder. Sweet and poignant, their faces evoke yearning and a myriad of emotions. The sense of distance when they could hear each other’s heartbeats emanates foretells the bittersweet love story.

Previously, tantalizing photos featuring the lead pair raise attraction with its scenic background complementing the passionate and turbulent palace-set romance.

The Red Sleeve

MBC’s The Red Sleeve is spearheaded by director Jung Ji In, whose previous works include Radiant Office and Should We Kiss First, and writer Jeong Hae Ri, who co-wrote Ruler: Master of the Mask. It will be broadcast for the first time on November 5.
