Our heroine is falling for a particular suitor, and her heart keeps leading her to him. Yet, just when things start to heat up, the arrival of a clingy ex-girlfriend throws a wrench into their budding romance.
A more welcome newcomer also shows up this week, though only time will tell how his appearance will affect our story.

Crushology 101 Episodes 5 and 6 Highlights
“How did I get home?”
Normally, people call for help when someone faints. But Bunny takes her sweet time imagining Jae-yeol proposing to her and their fairy tale wedding that hilariously gets cut off with police officers coming to arrest Bunny on the charge of megalomania, to her utter confusion. What on earth is megalomania? And then the alarm goes off. Okay! That was a dream Bunny had while sleeping after getting Jae-yeol home.
Recalling his drunk confession, Jae-yeol is embarrassed. But that isn’t all. While Bunny dragged him along, Jae-yeol put on a comedy show. While those antics can be called drunken mistakes, Jae-yeol asserts he meant it when he confessed his feelings to Bunny. Yet the girl thinks it is his new way of bullying her. Having a guy book a seat for her at the library and studying together while his gaze is fixed on her is surely heart-fluttering. But since it is Jae-yeol, Bunny can’t wrap her head around it and racks her brain over what she did wrong this time.
A power outage has everyone vacating the library, gifting us a tender moment of Jae-yeol guiding Bunny so she won’t trip in the dark. They reunite again when Bunny and her friends, including Ji-won, get invited over by Jae-yeol’s friend to study together at their studio. Grilling meat inside an enclosed place might not be the best idea since the fire alarm goes off, and soon the whole place gets drenched in water. Bunny stays behind to dry the equipment off, but all Jae-yeol can think about is her safety.
The only perk of this sequence is Bunny softening up and reconsidering her feelings for Jae-yeol, especially after coming across the medicine he left for her. Or, so she thinks, since it was Ji-won who left the medicine. Either way, Bunny no longer finds Jae-yeol uncomfortable or scary and enjoys his company.
“I jumped the gun again like a fool.”
Though she tries to deny it, Bunny has a crush on Jae-yeol. But just then, things turn complicated after Jae-yeol’s ex-girlfriend, Han Yeo-reum (Jeon So-young), shows up on campus. Through flashbacks, we learn Yeo-reum was the one to mention the breakup first and ghosted Jae-yeol afterward, claiming she was sick of their relationship. But in fact, Yeo-reum was about to go abroad and wanted to end things with Jae-yeol beforehand. She didn’t even have the decency to tell him before leaving, and Jae-yeol only heard about it after she left.
Being the shameless type, Yeo-reum approaches Jae-yeol with a smile, as if nothing happened. She wants to get back together with him. Yet Jae-yeol makes it clear he wants nothing to do with her. Not that Yeo-reum will stop following him around until she gets her way.
A photo of Jae-yeol and Yeo-reum from their dating days goes viral, making Bunny uneasy. To his credit, Jae-yeol tries to clear things up. But she doesn’t give him a chance and keeps avoiding him. Still, Jae-yeol doesn’t give up until Bunny hears him out. Naturally, Bunny is torn, but she settles to trust Jae-yeol and accepts his invitation to have pasta together just the two of them, while low-key hoping this is a date.
D-day comes, and our soon-to-be couple is excited about their first “date.” If you had an ominous feeling about it, then you are right. Getting out of class, Jae-yeol comes face to face with Yeo-reum, who wants to have dinner with him, spouting nonsense about how she didn’t want to break up with Jae-yeol but only meant they should take a break, and she would come back for him. Satisfyingly enough, Jae-yeol calls her out for being self-centered. But a brazen Yeo-reum follows Jae-yeol to the meeting spot, clutching his wrist.
Watching this unfold, Bunny gets heartbroken and tries to leave. But Jae-yeol breaks loose and follows after her. As we end this week, Jae-yeol leans in to kiss Bunny as Yeo-reum watches them. But the expression on Bunny’s face doesn’t suggest she is fine with it.
Crushology 101 Episodes 5 and 6 Musings
The more time we spend with Jae-yeol, the more we see him grow. The guy who tortured Bunny for accidentally breaking his tablet didn’t care in the slightest about more expensive instruments getting drenched by water, and only worried about Bunny getting hurt. The abrupt kiss aside, Jae-yeol acted all sweet to Bunny this week and was thoughtful of her.
Also, we appreciate how Jae-yeol made it clear to Ji-won that he likes Bunny and asked Ji-won to make his stance clear too. It isn’t just that Jae-yeol feels jealous of Ji-won. He doesn’t like how Ji-won keeps claiming Bunny was only a friend to him, yet his actions don’t match his words. It is more like Ji-won is aware of his feelings but chooses to hide them under the pretext of being friends. But this way, he will lose any little chance he has and will have only his cowardice to blame.
The clingy ex-girlfriend is a trope we want to be eradicated from K-Dramas. So, we hope Yeo-reum will make a quick exit out of the story. On a brighter note, Hong Min-ki finally appeared on screen, though it was only for a few seconds. The way he recognized Bunny at a glance suggests they go back a long way, though she doesn’t seem to recognize him. Anyway, we can’t wait to see more of him next week. Hopefully, this addition will bring a pleasant change to the drama and things will turn more interesting.
