Cheer Up Episode 8 Highlights

“It’s pathetic. Begging for hopeless love.”

When Sun-ho saw Hae-yi grabbing Jung-woo’s hands, he immediately pulls her as this sight was similar to what he saw as a child. Despite growing up in a well-off and complete family, Sun-ho already notices that his father loves somebody else.

Since he was little, he also already knew that his father has another child and that he still loves his first wife. Even though Sun-ho’s mother, Jin-hee, knows about this, she still loves and shows affection to his father.

With that in mind, he can’t handle seeing people being desperate for love, explaining why his previous relationships aren’t serious.

“You should watch yourself too. So, nobody thinks you’re favoring anyone.”

After receiving another threat, Captain Jung-woo finally confronts Min-jae about the texts he has been receiving. Correspondingly, Min-jae confessed that he was the one who sent them, reasoning that he dislikes Hae-yi.

However, he reveals that he no longer dislikes Hae-yi but lies when asked if he knows the photos posted in the club room. Still, Captain Jung-woo believes him and gives him a warning not to send threats again.

In return, Min-jae also warns him to stop showing bias among the squad members. Due to this, Captain Jung-woo stopped Hae-yi before she says anything about her feelings that can lead her to danger.

Additionally, Yoo-min also advises Hae-yi to keep her feelings all to herself and remain liking Captain Jung-woo from a distance. Hae-yi then tries to look fine and masks her broken heart with a smile.

“You should use nice things too. You should do what you want in life. Stop worrying about money so much. You’re young.”

To give thanks to Jae-yi’s classmate and his mother, Hae-yi prepared a gift, but Jae-yi did not like seeing his sister be a fool about money. Jae-yi said his classmate told him that Hae-yi will only be kind if she receives money.

Furthermore, their mom stopped their argument, insisting that Hae-yi should instead use the expensive gift and reminds her to treat herself also. While training, Hae-yi still feels off because of what her brother told her.

She then opens up to Sun-ho and asks him if adoring money makes her cheap — like what Jae-yi mentioned. Sun-ho replies that her honesty about her status makes her courageous and awesome.

“Why do people I like always look at someone else? Can’t you look at me? Can’t you just look at me?”

Arriving at their house, Sun-ho found her mom drunk and realized that she celebrated another wedding anniversary alone again. His father finally arrives giving them an expressionless stare uninterested in what Sun-ho is saying.

After he took care of his mother, Sun-ho goes back to Yonhee and guards the stadium stage with Hae-yi, but she senses Sun-ho looks troubled.

At first, Sun-ho was hesitant to speak up but he gradually opens up to her and expresses his troubles about his father. Hae-yi then responds that he felt troubled not because he hated his father but because he likes him.

Sun-ho burst into tears as he realized that every person he genuinely loves doesn’t feel the same way as he does. Hae-yi embraces him as Sun-ho cries on her shoulders.

Coincidentally, Captain Jung-woo sees the two on the stage where the ‘half-moon spot’ in their legends was located.

Cheer Up Episode 8 Musings

In this episode, Sun-ho seems to be winning Hae-yi for being vocal about his feelings toward her and his emotions. Nevertheless, Captain Jung-woo also experiences heartache as he chose to protect Hae-yi rather than be selfless and confess his feelings.

Whoever is behind the threats he has been receiving, we know for sure that this person is hindering him to be with Hae-yi. Like what happened two years ago, as Jung-woo started to have feelings for Yoo-min, she’s also been receiving threats.

Furthermore, we also sympathize with Yong-il, who has been rejected already without confessing his feelings to Vice Captain Cho-hee. Anyhow, Young-woong and Ji-young’s relationship progresses as Ji-young made their relationship official.

Their story proves that there are no age limits for one to enjoy youth and still be wild at their age.

Additionally, the drama is still unpredictable, specifically with the love story between Jung-woo, Hae-yi, and Sun-ho. Their story is a slow burn since many can resonate with Hae-yi, who still likes Jung-woo despite his mixed signals.

Let’s then hope Theia will conclude the festival with success and without any accidents again. Also, will Jung-woo continue to protect Hae-yi or will he be courageous enough to confess his feelings?
