Happiness Episode 3 Key Moments
“I’m sorry. I don’t know why I did that. I was too bitter about dying like this.”
Upon seeing Seung-young swarmed by the deranged monster-like humans, Sae-bom braves the odds to get him out of them. Yi-hyun who sees her also grabs her and they both took Seung-young out of the refrigerated van.
While checking on her friend’s physical wounds, she listens to him apologize for the betrayal. He silently remarks how he just wants to do something for his family since he’s dying.
Ji-hyun and Tae-seok talk about the method of preventing the outbreak with both of their arguments making sense. Facing an impasse on the escalating infectious disease situation, Tae-seok has no choice but to cure the infected and isolate the gravely ill. That decision is challenged by Yi-hyun who argues that the segregated and confined people have families who worry about them.
Tae-seok responds that what coronavirus has taught people is that making a living and surviving is more important than a few people killing each other. He assures him that he’s doing his best to endure the predicament so he can also protect his own family should the problem reaches a point of no return.
Just then, Sae-bom appears and demands Tae-seok to already make a move by informing the public of the contagious malady he is managing indecisively. She warns that she would do it if he won’t act accordingly.
“Is it okay that I’m the only one getting better?”
With the looming danger, Sae-bom thinks about how she saved a lot for a vacation. She also worries why she’s the only one getting better as Yi-hyun puts ointment on her wound. Positive that treatment and vaccine will happen eventually. They both hope for the infected people to get better.
Back at their new apartment, they chance upon their neighbors and Yi-hyun takes note of something suspicious about one of them, the husband of a dermatology clinic director. When they were video calling his mom, another barrage of noise erupt from the unit above them. Yi-hyun finds himself meeting the dubious man wearing a blood-stained shirt and his suspicions just keep on growing.
When Seung-young’s captured video regarding “mad person disease” has been exposed, an alert was raised for front liners like Yi-hyun’s team. Tae-seok has also retrieved a huge amount of NEXT pills as his busy days keep getting busy with all the ruckus.
The next day, Yi-hyun investigates the director of the dermatology clinic. It led him to confirm the illicit affair of the “manager’ and the husband.
Meanwhile. Sae-bom encounters some of the apartment occupants. One of them warns her for messing up with the emergency exit door last time.
Sae-bom who also went up to question the noisy unit sees the same blood-stained sleeve of the husband and forces her way in. Based on his wife’s condition, Sae-bom deduces she’s infected by the “mad person” virus.
Trying to coax the infected director to get out, the evil husband pushed Sae-bom inside. Thanks to her negotiation skills, she proposes opening the door for the director while they hear her husband calling the emergency service to rush to their place.
Escaping his crazy wife’s claws, the infected director wreaks havoc and sees Sae-bom’s young friend, Se-yoon about to be attacked. Rushing to save her, Sae-bom subdues the crazed director. Right on time, Yi-hyun arrives to take over as Sae-bom hugs Se-yoon to make sure she does not get traumatized.
“Don’t go into a stranger’s home by yourself anymore. Call me first!”
Yi-hyun discovers NEXT pills at the director’s unit as well as a bloodied golf club. The situation alarms the residents of the apartment complex who rush to go to the grocery store to buy their needs.
Han Tae-seok also faces the issue by addressing the growing concern through a live broadcast. Sae-bom who was watching it with Yi-hyun sulks at how robotic his announcement was.
Commenting the response of the government is for the public not to be alarmed, he also chides his wife to not act impulsively every time and to call him first.
They decide to go out for a walk and meet the prim-and-proper ajumma who asked them not to make an issue about what happened to their apartment.
Calmly explaining the impact the incident will cause, Sae-bom faintly mocks how the ajumma still worries about the price drop repercussion when the situation is serious.
“I thought I was all alone.”
Later, Yi-hyun meets Tae-seok to give the remaining pills he found at the clinic director’s house.
Unfortunately, the clinic director died, just as Yi-hyun secured the forensic evidence of her husband’s attempted murder. He arrests the husband by bringing in his mistress as the witness.
With Yi-hyun’s lead, Tae-seok confronts the escalating reality of the disease. He gets information about how the pills were sold at Le Ciel’s gym through the dealer. The same gym that denied Sae-bom access previously since it only caters to the elite tenants.
The gravity of the situation reached irreversible damage. Thus, Tae-seok informs Sae-bom that the entire apartment complex will be locked down. Reasoning the abrupt sealing to prevent spreading the disease, she blames herself for not exposing the facility when she discovered it.
But Tae-seok how it won’t make a difference since they had to do what needs to be done first. He offers her to leave the place, but she insists on protecting her home.
Sae-bom calls Yi-hyun to inform him of the lock-down not knowing that he was at the same building. When their eyes meet on the ground floor, she rushes to embrace him, confessing how scared she was thinking she’s all alone.
Happiness Episode 3 Musings
The strong barricades are set at the Le Ciel apartment complex and Yi-hyun and Sae-bom’s fight for happiness officially begins. I love the funneled storytelling of this series so far. Bringing in honest sensible lessons that at least viewers can all relate to because of our very own compulsory participation in the coronavirus that we are all still battling on.
Sae-bom being adamant to protect her dream apartment and the people in the apartment complex would spur the gripping drive of Happiness. We can already conclude that her new-found ill young friend is set for emotional moments in the next episodes.
Acquainting us to the interesting set of apartment tenants adds intrigue to the already hooking story.
The evil husband of the deceased director reeks of trouble even from our virtual perspective. Concluding how he would cause more troubles is given.
Therefore, we can only anticipate how the featured characters can survive the precarious situation they are in. Admittedly, Tae-seok’s solution makes sense. The picture of a contained apartment complex gives us an honest peek into a microcosm of a virus-infested world. Truly scary, hence, worth spending our attention.
