Happiness Episode 7 Key Moments

“We’re newlyweds so I just miss her like crazy.”

At the thought of Sae-bom being in danger, Yi-hyun’s rage keeps boiling. That is especially since the penthouse guy declines the initial entrance request for Yi-hyun. When the latter finally gets inside, he rushes to look for his wife who was baffled when she sees him thinking her husband could be hungry too.

Cooperating to save her husband’s face after the slight rudeness to the penthouse guy, Sae-bom backs up Yi-hyun’s claim of how he wants to be with Sae-bom all the time.

Seo-yoon almost gets into trouble when the ajussi zombie tries to enter their place. When he sees Sae-bom and Yi-hyun who both stayed calm in dealing with him, he also pretends to be harmless despite his bloodied mouth giving it away.

At the gym, the ajumma writer worries about her brother and gives the key to the locked trainer. But when she senses trouble, she runs to the building’s parking space. Yi-hyun and Sae-bom find out the situation at the gym and rush to check on what happened. They find the gym trainer whining about his quenchless thirst. Just as the two prepares for his attack, Han Tae-seok arrived and shoots him.

Unhappy for shooting the gym trainer, Sae-bom chides Han Tae-seok who remains firm of being indecisive when the virus is already escalating in Korea and even the whole wide world. He explains wanting to get Seo-yoon because her mom misses her, and also informs her father was infected. A meeting with the tenants needs to be done as well.

“Someone’s missing because of you. If you are a decent person, you should at least feel a sense of responsibility.

Yi-hyun checks the storage room and finds Detective Lee and other tenants hiding. They are reluctant at first to open the door worried that Hyun might have been infected.

He latter learns about the culprits who let the infected inside. Confronting the irresponsible hopeless video streamer, he lectures him about the ruckus he caused.

On the rooftop, Yi-hyun chats with Tae-sok and learns how the situation is getting bleaker without having a cure yet. Their conversation gets interrupted when Sae-bom announced the residents are already gathered for the meeting.

Before that, Tae-seok speaks with Seo-yoon and offers her to see her mother. Meanwhile, Yi-hyun promises to tell Sae-bom if he gets the virus so she should also do the same for him.

When they arrive at the meeting room, the people have started the blaming game and the expected whines. Introducing himself, Tae-seok goes straight to the point to announce the city is in lockdown and the power in the building will be cut off at night.

“We found an antibody in your blood. We must confirm whether it is useful or not.”

Shutting up the complaints of the tenants, a siren wailed to announce the city is officially set on Martial Law. Sae-bom tells Yi-hyun to be careful and hands her gun to him for protection. She then heads to see Seo-yoon who might be startled by the siren sounds.

Tae-seok reaffirms what he just said and tells the residents to adjust for the remaining four days without electric supply and comply with the stay-at-home rule.

Revealing the supply is getting depleted outside along with constant fights, Tae-seok honestly laid all that’s happening.

Sae-bom confronts Tae-seok of his real motive in visiting them. He responds wanting to check if a tiny hope of finding a cure by using her blood is possible. It turns out Tae-seok has laid a trap of infecting her again so he can take her away.

At that moment, Yi-hyun realizes Tae-seok’s goal is to take Sae-bom for the cure they are studying. He runs to follow the speeding car and motions to pull his gun trigger on Tae-seok. Just then, Sae-bom also regains consciousness and grabs Tae-seok’s gun to hold him at gunpoint.

Reaching an impasse, the married friends agree for Sae-bom’s blood to be drawn, but not with a punch by Yi-hyun on Tae-seok’s face for complicating something that can be asked of them peacefully.

Learning Sae-bom could be important to the future of Korea, Yi-hyun demands for ammunition to protect her. Tae-seok reminds her that she can be the cure or she can be cursed if she gets infected. However, Yi-hyun does not care and is more pumped to have her stay by his side.

“We just need to endure four days.”

Sae-bom and Yi-hyun bring meals to the tenants as the start of power interruption begins at night in the building. Bo-ram also stays at unit #302 despite being pushed out by Donghyun, she was rescued by his mother.

Finally, No Soo-min reaches out to his sister as he looks to be at the parking space opting not to go inside in fear that he might harm her. He asks her a favor to take care of his family in case he doesn’t survive the virus. Their conversation gets halted when the electricity officially shuts down as implemented by the Martial Law in place in the city.

At the parking space, No Soo-min sees a light flashes on his face. Someone from inside opens the door to his surprise.

Happiness Episode 7 Musings

Despite the annoyance, we get ample humor in Happiness from the stubbornness of the trapped humans in the building. The way they are so diverse means their actions and responses to their urgent situations vary.

It significantly raises the thrill level of the series since the characters are unpredictable and they move to a plot with a lot of variables.

This episode lets us a peek at Han Tae-seok’s heavy heart. We saw his warmer side conversing with Seo-yoon, and we empathize with his own burden of probably losing his family to the disease. He also shows concern for Yi-hyun who might face problems if news comes out that Sae-bom is the source of cure for the mad person disease.

Happiness

As if the series lacks something to be worried about, it adds another pile this episode with Detective Kim seemingly putting his faith in building rep’s ajumma‘s pastor husband. Of course, Oh Ju-hyung can’t stand a few days being nice and wickedly sets a goal to infect his neighbors through the bottled waters. His mistress has also been busy using beauty trap to the pompous lawyer for protection.

It’s interesting how the small world we witness in Happiness felt so big to process because of the well-represented characters. A truly thought-provoking idea that we can ponder on, the situation in the series posits a probable event that could happen. Therefore, it easily gravitates us to be invested.

Suggested in this chapter is how Sae-bom might still not be safe as she still carries the virus. Some of the symptoms like her fast-recuperating ability manifested. Thus, marking her case’s mystery yet to be unearthed.

Who let Na Soo-min enter the building? Can Yi-hyun and Sae-bom stop the evil ploy of Ju-hyung?
