Link: Eat, Love, Kill Episode 14 Highlights
“I will never forgive myself. And I will never forgive you either. You shouldn’t have dissuaded me. You should’ve let me be.”
On the day Hong Bok-hee defended her daughter and accidentally killed the man, Police Officer An Jung-ho was with her that night. Moreover, Noh Da-hyun asked her mother if she saw Gye-young and was disappointed to hear that Bok-hee didn’t see Gye-young.
Considering that Bok-hee accidentally killed the man, Jung-ho suggested that she should keep her mouth shut. Knowing how the law works, Jung-ho knows that the police officers won’t believe Bok-hee’s testimonies and will accuse her of murder.
Keeping in mind the safety of her daughter, Bok-hee covers her murder despite feeling guilt for Gye-young. In the present, Bok-hee blames herself and Jung-ho for making that decision 20 years ago.
If ever Bok-hee didn’t run from her fear, Da-hyun thought that they will be able to find and save Gye-young. Furthermore, she also shares her mother’s mistake with Gye-hoon.
“I’m just sick and tired of this neighborhood. Everything here disgusts me. In hindsight, it was wise to leave this place. Coming back was the worst decision ever.”
As a result, Gye-hoon starts to ignore Da-hyun and cannot accept Bok-hee’s apologies to him. Additionally, he finally plans on closing his restaurant in Jihwa-dong and leaving this cruel place.
Furthermore, Cha Jin-hoo asked Gye-hoon about what will happen to Da-hyun, but he ignored his question and continue absorbing the truth unveiled to him. Gye-hoon and Da-hyun then recall what they talked about last night on the plans they want to do together.
However, they found themselves hanging by the thread again and struggling to fight for their love.
On the other hand, Jong Dong-nan finally decided to talk to Gye-hoon about what he knows about his sister’s disappearance. Ever since her case happened, Dong-nan has continued hallucinations of Gye-young following him.
“He just left. Despite her plea for help, he just left her there.”
Pondering what Bok-hee told him, Police Officer An Jung-ho regretted his mistakes and reflected on his decisions over a drink. He forces himself to recall who investigated the area where Gye-young was kidnapped.
In the usual place where they eat and drink, Young-hoon saw and approach Jung-ho. He offered him a ride since the rain was pouring and Jung-ho was very drunk.
As the two converses inside the car, Jung-ho suddenly remembered that Young-hoon helped him with investigating and searching for Gye-young in every house. Additionally, he recalls that Young-hoon specifically told him that he will check the house with a red gate which Da-hyun testified where they were held captive.
Young-hoon then noticed that Jung-ho also recalls what happened and took him to the warehouse where he killed Jin-geun. As Jung-ho woke up, he cannot believe that one of the most trusted friends he has was the culprit they have been looking for.
With that, Young-hoon confessed and discloses that the man Bok-hee killed was only his cover-up. He was also grateful for what Dong-nan did that saved him.
When Da-hyun and Gye-young escaped, Gye-young has run to Dong-nan and asked for his help. However, he did not believe her and left Gye-young to her death for the reason that he’s been going through a lot with his work.
Link: Eat, Love, Kill Episode 14 Musings
Link: Eat, Love, Kill continues to serve us with steaming revelations and challenge the heroes of the drama with the truth. This week’s episodes highlight the characters’ regrets and selfish decisions that everyone can ponder.
I also can’t find any good reason to give pity to Dong-nan for his decision to leave a child in a dark alley alone. However, his character mirrors our society, where many don’t show any concern for things around them.
May we reflect on Bok-hee and Dong-nan’s mistakes and show empathy to everyone we know or even to those who we don’t know. Additionally, let’s hope the Jung-ho will be able to leave the place alive where Young-hoon locked him.
Furthermore, the series gives Gye-hoon and Da-hyun doubts if whether they want to fight for their love or not. After hearing multiple times that Gye-young has many chances to be saved, Gye-hoon gradually loses his trust in everyone.
With how their situation becomes messier day by day, is it time for Gye-hoon and Da-hyun to let go?
