“Not your sister, not your father, and not your mother either. Eun Gye-hoon. Is Eun Gye-hoon all right? I’m curious about Eun Gye-hoon. How was it for Eun Gye-hoon?”

Clearing out people’s speculations about his return to Jihwa-dong to get revenge, Eun Gye-hoon reveals that he is looking for his father. Ever since his sister disappeared, his father Cheol-ho doesn’t miss any day to find Gye-young.

On the other hand, his mother’s health weakens every day, wherefore he needs to take care of her while juggling his studies and looking out for his father. Gye-hoon finally tries to convince his father to return home and move forwards since he and his mother needs him.

Nevertheless, Cheol-ho continues to feel guilt and doesn’t give up hope that he can find his missing daughter. Since then, Gye-hoon’s line of communication with his father had cut off and his remains are nowhere to be found.

His last traces were found in Jihwa-dong, explaining why Gye-hoon returned to his hometown. While telling his story to Da-hyun, she asked how he is coping with his past and the burdens on his shoulders.

“You came into my life. You’ll still see the coward in me from time to time… But I’ll try my best not to feel that way or make it obvious. If you’re okay with that, then I’ll continue to make delicious food for you.”

After talking with Gye-hoon, Da-hyun starts to feel an ache in her heart and also starts to cry. She returned to the restaurant and saw him crying hard as well.

Gye-hoon then realizes how important she is in his life and went straight to Da-hyun to kiss her. With that, her feelings for him flourished more, and she took time to make herself presentable the next day.

Nonetheless, he doesn’t seem to appreciate or notice her new outfit and glow up. His reaction made her feel unimportant, considering what happened between them last night and her excitement to see him again.

Gye-hoon felt her change of mood, and she questions him about his true feelings. Since he is still careful with welcoming people in his life, he made an indirect confession to label their relationship.

“And you know what? I’m going to dig into it. My nightmare. Letting my imaginations run wild makes me want to run away in fear even more. I’m done with that. I’m going to take the bull by the horns and see if it’s real or not.”

Similar to Gye-hoon, a past that became Da-hyun’s nightmares continues to follow her. Whenever she wakes up from a nightmare, her grandmother tells her the story of the salt pillars and constantly reminds her not to look back.

However, after knowing how Gye-hoon doesn’t want to forget his past, she gains the strength to look back and learn more about her past.

The nightmare she’s been dreaming of faintly shows her a red gate. After meeting Gye-hoon, Jin-geun, and Won-tak, her memories gradually return, showing that she might’ve witnessed Gye-young’s last moments with Jin-geun.

Da-hyun then starts investigating Jihwa-dong to find the red gate she’s been seeing in her dreams. On the other hand, Bok-hee and Chun-ok start to feel anxious now that Da-hyun is digging into her past.

“If you were a true police officer, you should’ve told everyone that he was innocent and that the police had made a mistake.”

Going further with his investigation of his sister’s disappearance, Police Officer An Jung-ho talked to Gye-hoon and Wo-tak about Han Ui-chan. He reveals that he is falsely accused of murdering Gye-young.

A witness decided to confess that he talked with Gye-young when he didn’t see if she went inside Ui-chan’s car or not. Even though he took back his confession and the police freed Ui-chan, he can’t get up back on his feet because how the people still accuse him.

For many years, Won-tak blames and accuses his father since he saw him cleaning blood from a cloth. He then found out that the blood does not belong to Gye-young, but belongs to his father.

After giving up his piano class, Ui-chan tried to find a new job and he got involved in many fights on the way.
