Love Is For Suckers Episode 8 Highlights
Picking on Yeo-reum’s statement that kisses and one-night stands don’t mean a thing to adults anymore, Jae-hoon confirms it by locking his lips to her. Swept at the moment, they each have separate thoughts on how the past kisses they shared have been ordinary and easy.
For Jae-hoon who has harbored deep admiration towards Yeo-reum, he realized it to be different because he’s sharing it with her. For Yeo-reum, she has never felt such overwhelming emotions enveloping her. But then, the magic got swept away fast and she avoids the kiss aftermath.
Finding Sang-woo at work, she halted what she was about to confess to him when he insisted that he also has something to confess. It turns out that he deleted the video footage of Ji-wan’s sexual harassment confession. Knowing the weight of what was done, Yeo-reum forgot her own problem as she preps to face the wrath of chae-ri who will obviously be enraged by what her junior has done.
With a pressing concern, Yeo-reum also confronts the silent emotional ordeal of Ji-yeon. Asking Yeo-reum if she has feelings for Jae-hoon, she confessed that she witnessed the kiss earlier. Admitting it really broke her heart, she tells Yeo-reum that if she has feelings for Jae-hoon, she will leave the show. But if she does not have, then she will not give up on pursuing Jae-hoon.
“Please stop crossing the line. Stop confusing him meaninglessly.”
Yeo-reum affirms that she’s only friends with Jae-hoon. To that, Ji-yeon requests that she makes sure that’s really the case and to stop confusing her friend. After their talk, they see Jae-hoon who is confused about why they were together.
Yeo-reum explains they talk about the “kiss” being aired as if they were the ones who did it. But it will proceed if he will also agree to it. She leaves the two to talk about going through it or not.
Jae-hoon apologizes for the date night that never happened. Unable to handle her emotions, Ji-yeon confessed to seeing him kiss Yeo-reum. She also reveals wanting to leave the show because of her pathetic unrequited love but her heart just won’t stop bearing the pain.
Asserting how she does not care about being heartbroken further, she again tells Jae-hoon that she likes him so much. Feeling apologetic, for understanding her pain but not being able to do something about it, he listens to her determined vow that she will do her best until the end of the show.
“It became clear yesterday. We are only friends.”
The next day, Yeo-reum asks Jae-hoon to meet him. She tells him how he holds a special meaning to her life but having romantic feelings became clear after the kiss they shared yesterday. She claims they’re not meant to be tother whereas Jae-hoon responds that what happened yesterday made him realize that he can’t live without her.
Vehemently insisting they can only stay as friends, Jae-hoon respects her decision. As he walks away, Yeo-reum’s eyes are on the brink of tears.
Fortunately for Sang-woo, he didn’t take a big hit after deleting the video footage thanks to Yeo-reum. As the show gears up for the first episode broadcast; the members are also showing their off personalities and worth-worrying habits.
John Jang meets his narcissistic match in Tae-mi. Su-mi accidentally discovers Hoon-hee to be a bit dimwit. So-yeon seems unsettled by something and the meds she’s taking smell trouble. Oddball Jang-goon talks big, drawing curiosity if he actually has a secret weapon to attract the ladies.
“I got rejected again this morning. I’m going to back off. Yeo-reum said she has no feelings for me. She made it very clear.”
Seeking his friends’ comfort, Jae-hoon relayed how he was twice rejected by Yeo-reum. Because of that, he’s planning to give up.
On the day of the first broadcast, the production team and members separately view the series. Unknown to them, Chae-ri made late-minute adjustments focusing on Jae-hoon and Ji-yeon. The kiss was already shown with a teasing note that someone else took Jae-hoon’s kiss.
Yeo-reum looks for Chae-ri for an explanation of the trick she pulled while Ji-yeon expressed dismay for showing her pathetic side that she did not permit to be shown.
As expected, the makjang flavor inserted by Chae-ri made the first episode a hit! Jae-hoon and Ji-yeon created a buzz with their love storyline.
But a looming storm is coming for Jae-hoon when an unknown netizen posted about how he killed someone in the past.
Love Is For Suckers Episode 8 Musings
While communicating emotions is the strongest suit of Love is for Suckers so far, the half-hearted refusal of Yeo-reum in this episode is really hard to fathom. We know she’s just protecting the show, but Jae-hoon has sacrificed way too much pride and love for her already.
Whatever happened to Jae-hoon and Ji-yeon’s initial understanding that she’s willing to be used is also going wayward because of her emotions. Her honesty is really at an unimaginable meter level, that if Jae-hoon gets swayed momentarily, viewers can’t gripe on it.
At this point when our dear female lead struggles to balance rationality and her emotions, she might take the hit when Jae-hoon really gave up on her.
Jae-hoon receiving two “no strikes” from Yeo-reum hopefully ends in this episode.
Half-understanding and feeling half-annoyed to Yeo-reum’s drawing of the friendship line even in the imaginary world she’s in, does not make sense anymore.
If the preview proceeds to Jae-hoon really giving up on her, that’s understandable and worth rooting for.
As the story finally shifts to answering the trauma that caused Jae-hoon to leave neurosurgery, we are looking at its expected effect on how it will impact him in the show.
As viewers anticipate the ultimate love couple to be borne from Kingdom of Love 2; let’s hope Yeo-reum won’t miss the timing.
