The long-awaited love finally happened for Yeo-reum and Jae-hoon in Love Is For Suckers. Unfortunately, their rosy romance is not attuned to the series of unfortunate events happening in The Kingdom of Love season 2.
Will more genuine love pairings find themselves accepting of each other’s various meanings of love?

Love Is For Suckers Episodes 13 and 14 Highlights
Unable to lie to herself, Yeo-reum confesses her feelings for Jae-hoon. Her admittance led to both of them moving from friendship to a long-awaited serious romantic relationship.
In a flashback, a noraebang memory shared by them reveals how Jae-hoon jokingly sings the classic love song “Never Ending Story”. Yeo-reum enlightens him on how the song is sung with emotions derived from someone who can give heartache just by thinking about the person. Someone he can’t live without. Someone he suddenly thinks randomly each day while doing his usual routine.
“I love you. My heart aches when I think of you. It feels like it has to be you. No one else but you. And I keep thinking about you.”
Memories of what happened last night flood Yeo-reum’s thoughts as soon as she wakes up. She struggles to look for her clothes and ends up wearing Jae-hoon’s. Knowing how to look for his favorite girl’s clothing, she hides it and joins him for breakfast.
Enjoying the food he prepared, Jae-hoon stares at her dotingly and planted a kiss on her lips which surprised her. He again declares his love for her and adorably quips how he can now sing “Never Ending Story” based on the description she shared in their memory.
Taking charge, he convinces her that they should not miss their paths anymore. He promises to follow his heart and also acknowledges they should tie up the knots needing closure properly in the show. Agreeing with his proposal to talk about them after the show, they exchange genuine smiles and loving eyes.
Following the show’s early-end decision, PD Chae-ri approached John Kang to heighten his love line with Tae-mi with a kiss. He agrees since Chae-ri has the leverage to insist on the plan she’s brewing.
“Let’s film for now, and then we can talk about this later. I’ll think carefully about what we can do to help.”
Meanwhile, So-yeon relays to Yeo-reum how she wants to go home since her picture in the show has stayed on an abysmal note. Empathizing her feelings, Yeo-reum tries to lighten her mood and shares her personal experience of the humiliation she got from her canceled wedding.
Despite her desperate plea that she can no longer bear her situation, Yeo-reum as a PD can only encourage her to bear with it some more. Trusting Yeo-reum, So-yeon agrees to film and as expected she was not chosen again by any of the men.
Another variable arose when Ji-wan asks for a 30-minute date with John Jang to which the chef agreed. Their resident partners Jun-ho and Tae-mi as expected are baffled and annoyed with it.
Jae-hoon also goes to his usual partner, Ji-yeon while Su-mi shares her dating time with Hoon-hee and Jang-gun.
Off the members to proceed with their respective dates. Su-mi who went with Jang-gun to his gym thought she was used for publicity. However, when she listened to his explanation of his self-made success journey and genuinely admitted he only has hard work and continuous efforts, her initial dismay turns to appreciation.
“Love is being abandoned. The amazing thing people called love eventually becomes loneliness.”
Cornered by her mother, Chae-ri listens to her rant wishing she vanished because of the problems she caused in the family. Unbothered, she left her mother after listening to the heartless litany she’s been listening to for the last 30 years. But alone, she can no longer bear the pain and sadly weeps.
When she returns to the filming site, she spots Jae-hoon and sits beside him. Earlier, she was reviewing the interview tapes of the members where they answered the meaning of love. Asking Jae-hoon the meaning of love, he responds – staying by someone’s side.
Jae-hoon stops Chae-ri from leaving by asking the same question. Her response speaks of pain about being abandoned and feeling alone.
From the control room, Chae-ri watched Jae-hoon and Yeo-reum happily conversing because of a heart-shaped leaf. She then stands up and knocks at Jang-gun’s door proposing to sleep with her.
Covering the cameras, Jang-gun agrees. After sleeping together when he asked why Chae-ri chose to sleep with him. She responds that his answer to the question about love being a luxury was the reason why. She hopes that he will view love as not a luxury anymore, but a reality.
“I don’t think I can reciprocate your feelings. I’m sorry.”
Bringing Ji-yeon to a scenic place, Jae-hoon asked for a non-recorded moment and conveys his gratitude to Ji-yeon for the good memories they shared. He also apologizes but he really cannot return her feelings.
Back at Ji-wan and John Jang’s 30-minute date, the chef served a yummy cake for her. A look of withheld emotions reflects on John Jang’s face. When he asked her why she only took 30 minutes, Ji-wan responds not wanting to take much of his time.
Proceeding to the plotted “kiss encounter”, Tae-mi initiates the moment, but it got broken when Ji-wan returns to retrieve her phone which she left. The incident caused another headache to Chae-ri.
The next day, the final selection happens for the members and most of the results are expected. Except for Ji-yeon who refused Jae-hoon’s request.
Just then, So-yeon who was missing since morning suddenly appeared drunk sitting dangerously on the terrace railing with a bottle of wine. Yeo-reum rushes to coax her out of the railing. But as she tries to pull her in, she ends up falling. Fortunately, the team already set up a cushion but she was taken to the ER just the same.
“I love you. I’m sorry for not giving you an answer that day.”
After taking time off work to recuperate, Yeo-reum goes home to her place that Jae-hoon already fixed with the needed furniture that she prefers. Later, while both having wine time, she relays how during that time when people usually experience an epiphany of what has happened in their lives when facing peril, Yeo-reum had a different thought.
She shares how she kept thinking that she did not give him an answer when he told her he loves her after they slept together. Responding he loves her more, their sweet moment gets interrupted when their friends arrive.
Yeo-reum goes back to work and problems continue to plague the show that is due to air the final episode. Rumors of a production staff and a member having an affair spread and Yeo-reum worries that it could be because of her.
The rumor would most likely go bigger when she and Jae-hoon are captured in photos by who’s not aware they are friends and live in the same house.
Love Is For Suckers Episodes 13 and 14 Musings
The penultimate week of Love is for Suckers emphasizes the core message of the series by focusing on inner battles and reservations about love from different perspectives of the characters. Presenting the opening interviews of the Kingdom of Love season 2 about the meaning of love and how they progress in the show stayed true to their personalities and interactions in the show.
While we celebrate mutual love finally happening for Yeo-reum and Jae-hoon; the peek at Chae-ri’s solitary life who craves love, but is too detached to claim it – speaks about the pragmatic and modern meaning of relationships. Something that the series has been expressing well
The same goes for the members who hesitate on their initial love convictions like John Jang who created a genuine connection with Ji-wan but won’t boldly acknowledge it; Tae-mi who is only after fame and feeding her narcissism; Jun-ho whose selfishness knows no bounds; and Su-mi whose calculative and unyielding.
Ji-yeon’s brave tackling of refusing Jae-hoon’s protection on camera speaks about how when confronted by pain brought about by unrequited love, you can also opt to express it right away. Her choice to accept the pain and not prolong nor rely on false hope gave admirable growth to her character in the series.
Also highlighted in this week’s episode is Jang-gun’s story. He appears to be a simple man but he has a wide grasp of situations and people just by observing. How we wish he can claim Chae-ri as his very own love reality since she badly needs it.
