“Something’s different, she’s at least 2°C colder”

The school retreat’s talent show has left quite an impression particularly to the shared “restrained hug” of Ju-young to Ja-rim. However, Ju-young struggles to understand the change of Ja-rim’s cold treatment.

Meeting his friends, the boys adorably analyzed Ju-young’s predicament to crazy ideas of the retreat master’s fault of making them uncomfortable; and Ju-young’s hug that is full of manners.

“I just feel bad about him.”

Over at the girl’s camp, they also talk about the real score between Ja-rim and Ju-young. Bringing out the scene when she took of the rice grains on his face, Min-ji blabs how she totally misled Ju-young.

Telling her friends to stop, she reasoned how he looked dirty that time so she took it off. Leery on her actions which seemingly does not push Ju-young away, she responds how she just feels bad about him.

Her not so sweet line was unfortunately heard by Ju-young while walking with his friends in the hallway. And we can literally hear his heart breaks from the inadvertent pain.

Hiding the hurt, Ju-young even blurts out a praise of Ja-rim’s piano skill. Then, he runs and escapes the scene.

“It was all part of my delusion. To Ja-rim, I am just a pitiful guy.”

Recounting all the moments that he might have overestimated that there’s something special going on between him and Ja-rim, Ju-young goes to love grief stages. His reverie gets interrupted when the teacher called his attention and asked him to stand at the back of the room.

Taking his somber mood on the teacher, he questioned if he also thinks he is pitiable that’s why his punishment is only standing. With that, he was asked to form a perfect parabola using his legs.

Bumping on Ja-rim and the girls, Ju-young says a quick hi and goes to leave surprising Min-ji, who is used to him merrily greeting Ja-rim every time. Ah-ram mutters how Ja-rim hurt his feelings when he accidentally heard their conversation last time. She coaxes her not to leave him feeling blue, but Ja-rim just heaves a big sigh.

“Stop pitying me.”

At night, Ja-rim runs into Ju-young at the neighborhood convenience store. Avoiding an interaction, he rushes to leave the store, but was stopped by Ja-rim. When she asked if he heard their conversation, he denies it. Ja-rim affirms he’s lying, so he burst out to admit that he heard it.

A bit annoyed and enraged, he apologizes and asks her to stop pitying him.

When Ja-rim reaches home she learned that her “restrained hug” with Ju-young is going viral. She talks to the girls who promise to help find the person who posted it.

“Can you lend me your cellphone?”

Still feeling heartbroken, Ju-young is approached by a girl who asked for his cellphone. Striking a conversation with him, she tells how she saw him on YouTube. Ju-young gives his mobile phone and the girl enters her phone number. Winking cutely, she tells him to pick up his phone when she calls and then walks away. Ju-young stares at his phone and learns the girl’s name to be Park Hae Ri.

Wallowing at the thought of him being worthless, Ju-young takes any signs of kindness shown to him as an act of pity. Byung-hoon tries to snap him back to reality to no avail. When Kyung-woo arrives to tell that Ja-rim confronts the culprit who posted their video, he still answers how a pathetic guy like him can’t be of any help.

Giving up, the boys leave him be and Ju-young still asks if they are doing it because he is pathetic. Ja-rim and friends confront the guy who uploaded the video. But, the rude student refuses to relent even with Ja-rim’s warning that she will report it and will cause his personal account to be suspended.

“Who are you to make money off of someone else’s business?”

Finding his sanity and the Ja-rim virus back, Ju-young makes his move and asks the rude student to take down the video. When the rude student agreed easily, Ju-young goes back to his self-pitying state and queried if the guy also pities him. *chuckles

At that same moment, the girls find out that the video has been erased.

“All you need to do is ring his doorbell.”

Worried about his best friend, Kyung-woo calls Ja-rim to check on him, but the latter refuses to do so. However, Ja-rim finds herself going to his place, just as Ju-young wakes up from his slumber.

When Ju-young heard his name being called and sees Ja-rim in front of him, he runs quickly and leaves her sighing again.

In tears, Ju-young runs aimlessly while drowning himself to the thought of how she pities him. Mustering strength in his inner monologue, he proclaims not wanting to go through that sorry state anymore.

love revolution

“I don’t feel bad for you at all.”

But, Ja-rim catches up and stops his track. Sulking about the same thing he has been worried about all episode, Ja-rim shakes his senses up and assures him that she doesn’t feel that way. Hearing his tummy rambled, Ja-rim brings him to eat something.

Before Ju-young could even ask his catch phrase this episode, Ja-rim proactively explains that she doesn’t pity him and just want to payback for buying her face wash last time. Coaxing him to eat, she promises that she really doesn’t feel bad for him.

Ja-rim explains that she does not mean those words the way he understands it. Ju-young also apologizes if he made her feel uncomfortable during the event. Upon Ja-rim praising him that he sang well, Ju-young’s ears perk up and shoots a chance to hear Ja-rim say it again. But she shut him up by asking him to wipe his face because he looks dirty.

Promising to be her “pitiful Gong puppy”, Ju-young’s spirit shoots high. Before it goes even more higher, Ja-rim kites him back in to finish his food.

Love Revolution Episode 5 Musings

Dear Ju-young, abby noona does not think you are pitiable. Your love is rare and pure, keep it up. *wink

This episode is an adorable pun from Park Ji Hoon’s Produce 101 days. As the “king of catch phrase” in the talent show, his do-I-look-pitiful moments in this episode really cracked me up.

I am so fully-booked this weekend, but I made sure Love Revolution is on my priority list. As always, it gives a satisfying boost with its quick story. Hang on Ju-young, you are almost there!

With the introduction of Hae-ri, we expect some shake-up to the love trajectory. If the jealousy card is an express way for Ja-rim to reciprocate Ju-young’s affectionate pleadings, so be it.

Love Revolution airs on kakao TV every Thursday.
